About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

Nous sommes très contents de notre soirée, repas délicieux, portions généreuses, service fort sympathique. Je n'ai que le regret de ne pas avoir pensé photographier le serveur servant le thé à la menthe d'une si belle facon.

Comme c'était lundi, il y avait très peu de gens. Le service était impeccable & le couscous agneau, poulet excellent.

the waiter was very nice but seemed overwhelmed. It took forever to get some service. Some items were missing from the menu, including bread which is a must for these thpes of dishes. The food was tasty. The tajine was really underwhelming, the presentation was poor, there were a few plums flowting in a sauce of nothing. It was definitely not worth 44$.

Belle découverte .Déjà a notre arrivée nous sommes accueilli avec un grand sourire. Le repas était excellent ainsi que le service .La décoration est chaleureuse & le prix reste abordable compte tenu de l'inflation. Nous recommandons ce resto fortement. Très bon accueil du patron, qui nous a gracieusement offert le dessert & un thé à la menthe sans aucun supplément. Couscous très savoureux, le jarret d'agneau était tendre & goûteux, les légumes parfaitement cuit. Je reviendrai!

A homie place. Food is a delight, as much as the owners heart. We were 10 guests & we had plenty of food, tastes are authentic. It's been in my address book for a while now. Never did they disappoint, as well good on delivery.

Vraiment déçue de mon plat de tajine. 44$ pour du poulet bouilli dans du jus de citron & de l’eau avec des olives noires. Ça manquait de saveur. Aucunement épicé. Les entrées étaient bonnes, mais la tajine vraiment horrible. Proprio sympa & accueillant, mais on ne va pas y retourner malheureusement.

amazing food & service. Lamb & chicken was tender & flavourful. Large portion sizes. the Chef's laugh was so wonderfully joyous. The mint tea & sweets instantly transport you to Morocco. To top it off the chef was from Chefchaouen, one of my favourite places in the world. definitely a Montreal must!
