About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

Quel restaurant délicieux & chaleureux. La soupe, le tajine citron-olives & les aubergines nous ont ravies. Les saveurs sont concentrées, c'était un peu piquant mais ça nous plait. En plus la musique est bonne. On recommande sans hésiter.

Excellent petit restaurant maghrébin. Le couscous royal à l'agneau était fantastique. Le propriétaire est venu nous voir & il était très chaleureux & convivial. Belle ambiance, somme toute, malgré l'espace restreint. Je vais y retourner.

Tasty couscous & friendly service in a fine-dining like resto. The only thing I did't like was the hot spice in the food, it was too much for me. If you're the same don't think of trying their harissa 🔥(friendly advice). Else I recommend this place, enjoy!

Was intrigued by this Mediterranean restaurant & invited my friend to try this out. It was a really nice experience overall. The menus are very generous & you get an abundance indeed. My friend chose grilled scrimps & I had grilled lamb. Spectacular ! It is a nice cosy place & great ambiance indeed. Aside from the parking which is at times hard to find, you will not be disappointed with this place. We also had artichokes as an entree which was nice as well. My friend was really happy about this restaurant & she highly enjoyed the atmosphere! Also you can byob as well. Congratulations to the owner of this restaurant. They do their best to satisfy their clientele.

C'est tout simplement délicieux. Les coucous sont divins & les salades aussi. On est accueilli comme si on rentrait à la maison. C'est bon, c'est réconfortant, c'est convivivale. Le rapport qualité prix est parfait. J'ai déjà hâte d'y retourner. On aime aussi beaucoup commander en take-out! Ne pas confondre avec le restaurant sur Rosemont, vous serez déçu!
