About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

La qualité de la nourriture livrée par Au Tarot est tout simplement exceptionnelle. Chaque plat est arrivé chaud & bien emballé. On sent que chaque détail, de la préparation à la présentation, a été soigneusement pensé. Le rapport qualité-prix est également remarquable. Les portions étaient généreuses, ce qui est souvent rare pour une commande en livraison. C'est un véritable plaisir de profiter d'une telle générosité sans compromettre la qualité. Pour une soirée à la maison avec une cuisine savoureuse & authentique, Au Tarot est un choix sûr. Je recommande sans hésitation!

The service is warm & inviting in a cozy setting, with generous portion sizes that will leave you satisfied. However, the cuisine is clearly adapted to suit Western tastes. While the couscous is delightfully fluffy, it feels a bit heavy & is accompanied by a broth reminiscent of a pot-au-feu, lacking the depth of seasoning & traditional spices. The tagine offers a similar experience, not quite capturing the authentic flavors expected. That said, this restaurant excels as a venue for group gatherings, where the relaxed atmosphere & welcoming owners create a perfect setting for making memories together.

Pour moi algérien & fin fond connaisseur de la cuisine algérienne c'est pour moi le meilleur mais mais plus le must de la cuisine algérienne à Montréal le couscous à l'huile d'olive & comme ma région des montagnes d'un goût fenomenal la sauce était d'une saveur inégalable Les tadjines sont soigneusement préparés par un chef de renommée & d'un savoir faire irréprochable & son accueil ainsi que tous son personnel est inoubliable avec un chef qui prend le temps de parler à tous ces clients malgré l'achalandage & est à l'écoute des clients Je vous souhaite une bonne continuation & je recommande fortement l'endroit merci & encore merci
