About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

Neighborhood is packed, hard to find parking but owner have area to park but its located a block from the restaurant. One of his staff accompanied us to the parking. Food are delicious however you can tell that it was cooked in advance & its no longer fresh compared to a newly cooked food. Place is old & needs improvement. This place has a potential but need to improve things that I had mentioned. But I found the owner is kind hearted person, we've got a chance to chat with him for awhile because the place was not busy ... but I can see people order for take out delivery.

I LOVED my food experience at this restaurant!! Their couscous was the best one I've ever had. So savoury! & the owner is such a pleasant man. Amazing ambiance & service! I definitely recommend & will come back!

Excellente nourriture, tout est frais, portion généreuse. Service impeccable. Ahmed prends soin de ses clients, hyper sympatique & beaucoup d'entregent. Ce n'était pas ma première visite & sûrement pas la dernière. Je le recommande fortement & sans aucune hésitation.

An absolut gem! The portion sizes were generous, the food was absolutely delicious & the service was fast & casual & with a ton of heart. Lots of options for the dishes & you can tell the food is authentic & made with love. Will be returning soon for sure

Envie d'un couscous, c'est l'endroit où il faut aller, c'est tout simplement délicieusement bon. Le patron toujours accueillant & souriant vous conseillera sur les différents plats proposés. Chaque année on y va & c'est pas près d'arrêter.

J'ai commandé hier & voici ce que j'ai reçu! Un poulet dont la peau lève le coeur, un couscous avec 4 raisins secs, 2 pruneaux & 2 miniatures morceaux de choux. & que dire de la sauce? Ce n'est pas une sauce! C'est de l'huile! Vraiment très déçue!
