About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

Délicieux, chaeureux & généreux, une excellente adresse à Montréal. Un peu cher mais on peut facilement partager 1 plat à 2 tellement c'est copieux.

Nous avons initialement réservé pour 7 personnes. cependant, 12 personnes étaient présentes. Nous avons tous vraiment appréciée ce restaurant. La nourriture était excellente & le service vraiment très bien! Excellent rapport qualité prix. Il est facile de trouver un stationnement ( même un samedi soir) Nous y retournerons c'est certain . Seul bémol, c'était très bruyant. cependant, il y avait 2 gros groupes de personnes ( dont nous!!!) ce qui a dû ajouter beaucoup de décibels dans la salle!

The lamb shanks were excellent, with deep, rich flavor, the marriage with prunes in a thick reduction creating a wonderful presentation of a classic tagine. The rolled sole tagine was also very interestbut was a little heavy on the turmeric for me. The waiter's gentle prodding toward specific suggestions made me wonder whether the entire menu was really available.

Très bon service, bel ambiance, couscous aux trois viandes le jarret d'agneau était sur-réchauffé & désseché; le tout manquait un peu de d'épices & saveur plutôt fade.
