About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

Excellent couscous servi en portions généreuses. L'agneau était particulièrement tendre & savoureux. Service à la fois attentionné & décontracté. L'accueil chaleureux du patron, M. Kara, ajoute au plaisir de se retrouver dans son resto. Je recommande!

We really enjoyed a wonderful meal at Le Tarot. They were able to accommodate a gluten-free diner, the owner recommended the perfect dishes to share amongst the four of us, the food was absolutely delicious & the ambiance delightful. We'll be back soon.

Au Tarot is a local gem recommended to us by our taxi driver. We had the chicken tagine, couscous & rack of lamb. Truly the best lamb i've every had; tender without being too fatty, & the seasoning was out of this world. Chicken was amazing, & the vegetables & broth for the couscous was fragrant & satisfying. The owner attended to us personally as he did everyone in the restaurant, & we had an endless supply of "extras", especially different varieties of figs with our mint tea. Don't get sugar in your mint tea; you'll have plenty of sweet treats to satisfy you. Amazing & delightful dinner.

Nous avons eu un souper fantastique. C'est le patron qui nous reçoit. Vous êtes un invité,dans ce restaurant. Nous lui avons demandé une recommandation & nous avons pu goûter à un plat hors menu, délicieux. le service est agréable & sans pression. Somme toute une générosité dans l.accueil & dans les mets servis. Chaleureux & généreux.

Tout était super, tant la bouffe que le service! Les couscous & tajines furent excellents. Il en fut de même pour le petit dessert & le thé à la menthe. En plus, nous avons eu droit à un service hors pair, plein de petites attentions! Bref, nous avons passé une excellente soirée. Je recommande ce resto sans hésiter!

Très conviviale comme restaurant ! Le chef est génial & surtout très généreux !

It was our first time at Au Tarot, we all enjoyed our dinner tremendously. The service was great, the food very plentiful & very tasty!!! We found the tasting menu to be a great option...& very much recommend the restaurant.
