About us

For more than 35 years, the restaurant Au Tarot has established itself as the best Mediterranean restaurant in Montreal. The restaurant Au Tarot is at once an Algerian restaurant, a Moroccan restaurant, and a Tunisian restaurant, as it marries all the cuisine of the Maghreb. To save you the effort of cooking, the restaurant offers free delivery of its fresh traditional dishes, cooked every day with care. Takeout meals are also available. Consult the chef for special delivery during events, weddings, film shoots, office parties, etc.

The chef-owner, Nouredine Kara, demanding and a perfectionist, does his own shopping by selecting the best fresh products from the market every day. He oversees everything: from the preparation of the semolina to the homemade production of the merguez; from the perfect composition of the tagines (which are undoubtedly the best in Montreal), to the warm and affable welcome of all customers. One often encounters many personalities from the world of arts, business, or politics at the restaurant, who are loyal fans of tagines, pastillas, and couscous, as well as the charm that reigns here.

such a great place honnestly!! great staff & great food too!! if you don't finish your food you can take it to go & they pack your stuff greatly, I really recommend this place, it's a must to try, it's worth the wait, the lamb meat was so tender too

Excellent service. Personnels attentionnés & a l'écoutes. Le couscous est meilleurs que celui de ma mère, shuuuuuut ne lui dites surtout pas hahahha. Le proprio est super sympathique. toujours souriant, même si il a des employés surplace, il n'hésite pas de servir ses clients généreusement est ce toujours avec le sourire. Fortement recommandé 20/10

Un des meilleurs restaurants à Montréal. Des plats délicieux & généreux en portions. Le chef Noure El dine est un homme en or & généreux toujours acceuillant & souriant. Je recommande fortement ce restaurant.

Meilleur place de Montréal pour le couscous, impossible d'en manger ailleurs! La cuisine est vraiment excellente & la convivialité de notre hôte est la cerise sur le gâteau. On a vraiment l'impression d'êtres reçu par un membre de la famille. J'adore! 5 étoiles bien mérité ⭐?

A lovely Mediterranean & North African restaurant in the heart of Montreal. The atmosphere is warm & friendly, the food portions are excellent, & everything tastes fresh. The place is a bit small, but it feels cozy & quiet. Highly recommended.

Depuis 3 mois que je cherche a manger un coscous jour de semaine. Je suis allé Je n'ai pas juste manger du coscous j'ai voyager avec les saveurs & les textures.
De la gastronomie pur, je n'ai jamais imaginer une qualité pareil

Neighborhood is packed, hard to find parking but owner have area to park but its located a block from the restaurant. One of his staff accompanied us to the parking. Food are delicious however you can tell that it was cooked in advance & its no longer fresh compared to a newly cooked food. Place is old & needs improvement. This place has a potential but need to improve things that I had mentioned. But I found the owner is kind hearted person, we've got a chance to chat with him for awhile because the place was not busy ... but I can see people order for take out delivery.
