Ordered online for pickup ..specified twice I wanted a pork Souvlaki
When I got there, they hadn't even started my order waited an extra 15 mns. After I brought the order to my mother ..the Souvlaki turned out
to be made with BEEF and not PORK. It was tough and she did not enjoy it.
Also the Souvlaki was SMALL, not worth the $6.paid.
The floors very very greasy which made it very dangerous to navigate in the restaurant.
We arrived at around 7:30 PM and there was only two other tables occupied. We still had to wait a long time for menu's. To the point where we had to ask the girl at the cash for them.
Our food sat at the pick up counter getting cold because our waitress was tending to a new table of six that entered. Once again, I had to ask the cashier to bring us our order.
Food was only average and lukewarm. I had the pork souvlaki, my friend had the gyro. Service was horrible. Will not be going back.
Last time I ordered there they forgot the tzatziki, and the food was not even a bit warm, when I called back the guy made me wait a few minutes on the phone, probably hoping I would hang up, when he got back he said it was not worth it for him to come back to my house!. Food is more than average + they don't care about customers, avoid at all cost this place!

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that the fries taste like cardboard...
We have been ordering from this place for almost 5 years...I would say once every 2 months and believe it or not, they mess up our order each and every time. They never ever get it right....and they are extremely rude. We still order because it's very good but we reached our final straw when they completely botched up our order and then proceded to tell us that we should go pick it up ourselves next time. It may be good but not worth the headache of wondering if you will actually get what you ordered....if anything at all.
This review is for the Village Grecque on Samson in Laval:
I have eaten at this restaurant approx 20 times mostly with family. it's a wonderful value. The food is always excellent to outstanding. The portions are very generous and the servers are mostly very helpful and friendly. This isn't a fancy restaurant but the atmosphere is very comfortable and you almost feel like you are eating at home. It takes some time to get your food but everything is cooked fresh and it's worth the wait.
I'm pretty fussy but this restaurant has become one of my favourites. If you're not big eaters you could probably share a plate and be satisfied -- especially if you add in some of the great grilled bread which is given at no charge. Cheers to Village Grecque!!
BYOB would be most welcome!
Oh my god...

Good service but has been going downhill last couple of years. Something changed about the Doner meat. If it's not broken don't fix it. The ceramic floors are greasy and slippery under the feet which doesn't appeal to me as I can easily relate it to a grease kitchen which it never was but is slowly becoming. Been a client since 1987. The service is still great.
Went here twice. The first time was great, amazing gyro (to die for) although the calmars we orderd were mushy and not very tasty at all. The salad isn't your typical greek salad (here it is made with iceberg lettuce). The service was horrendous. we were told that they "ran out of gyro meat" and were told to come back 2 hours later. We did come back because I've been wanting to try their gyro but I found it strange that at dinnertime on a Thursday that they wouldn't have planned ahead to prepare enough meat for gyros.
The second time we went was a different story. The meat on the gyro was flavorless and very fatty. Not at all like what a gyro should take like and the tomato was rotten. Probably not representative of their usual gyro but still, enough to turn me off. We much prefer Nostos (not yet listed on restomontreal)
DELICIOUS food, VERY generous portions, reasonable prices. The best gyros in Montreal without a doubt. If you can bear with the mediocre service, try this place out. you will not be disappointed!
Best gyro in Montreal and the grain fed chicken plate is amazing. The portions are also quite generous.
The service can really use some improvement, but this place is mostly known for deliveries and take outs. If you're ever in the area be sure to check this place out.
Cash only ....
A Greek friend told me that they have the best Gyros in town. That's good enough for me.
I've eaten here twice and have even gone out of my way to get a doner for takeout. Definitely, if I'm ever anywhere in the area, I'll make a stop here for one.
I called this morning (May 2th 2007), asking if it was ok to bring a 1 year old kid. The answer was cold and brute NO.
Also, I asked a simple question in French, which he did not understand, I had to change to english. (I know that for some people in Quebec, it is not tolerated ;))
Nevertheless, a friend of mine said the food was good, and he's greek.
