Restaurant Candide offers a welcoming & intimate setting & it is clear that every detail is accounted for (down to luxurious candles burning throughout the restaurant). The staff was friendly & professional, balancing attentiveness while giving us space to enjoy our night seamlessly. The food was refreshing, thoughtful & surprising. I appreciate a slow deliberate meal, never feeling rushed nor forgotten. The smoked oysters were delightful & the sea bass was complimented perfectly with the mushrooms & fennel.Voir plus

Le personnel est formé & informé à la perfection, tout le service est d'une fluidité impeccable. Les plats & vins en majorité locaux, si importés d'une qualité irréprochable & à chaque produit on nous raconte son histoire. Been here a few times over the years & the experience is always impeccable. The food is inventive, fresh, & delicious with a continuously changing menu. The staff are beyond sweet & knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend going whether you're a local or a tourist!Voir plus
Really really good. A little hard to find but very interesting food & so good. The parsnip in tomato sauce appetizer was incredible. So was the arctic char. But the really killer part was the honey as the final, final course. Paired with a honey wine. Worth the price of admission itself. Highly recommended. Would absolutely go back.Voir plus

I don't understand what's the hype about this restaurant, I paid 300$ for my wife's birthday dinner for lettuce & carrots & a subpar beef dish. The service & the staff was amazing. Please if you think you want a nice restaurant that offers fine dining you can find better places for much less. Or any average restaurant will provide the same food for far lessVoir plus

Nous nous sommes assis au bar & avons assisté à toute la synchronisation des plats & la minutie de l'équipe. Ils sont extrêmement attentifs aux petits détails & le tout paraît dans l'assiette. C'est une cuisine qui se renouvelle constamment & l'envie de revenir aussi. L'ambiance est franchement agréable, sans prétention, une chose que j'apprécie particulièrement, tout comme le choix des bières comme la Auval, qu'on retrouve très rarement.Voir plus

Came here with friends, tried to enjoy it but just had an okay time. This place needs to be booked in advance. However, the menu changes often, so you never know what you are going to get. The menu is just two choices (fish or meat & for dessert either sweet or one-piece of cheese). I was faced with really tough choices as I immediately did not like either choice in our case, Peckerel fish or Guinea fowl. There are NO other options you can order, if not for our friends, I probably would have left before ordering. We had Brussel sprouts as first, & mussels over a bed of yogurt (what a wired combination of ingredients!!) For main course my wife chose Peckerel ( I personally don't like fresh water predator fish) & it was barely eatable with little fish meat & lots of skin fish , I chose guinea fowl (it was stiff like yesterday's reheated chicken). The tasting menu is offered with wine paring ($56) , i asked the waiter what are the wines & she could not recite it from memory, but said that there were 4 glasses of 3 oz each, one of them was a sweet wine & one orange. That sealed a d decion for me not to take parings. We decided to just order wine by glass, although they have quite an extensive wine list. There is only 1 white, 1 red, 1 rose, & 1 bubbly on the list by glass. For dessert, i took cheese (way too salty). I probably should have chosen the sweets. The only dish I really enjoyed was the Brussel sprouts appetizer. On the positive note, all the waiters & chefs were SUPER nice, friendly & accommodating. Not sure i will be back soon. Either I need a more predictable menu choices at the time of booking a few days in advance or more choice besides the tasting menu. Last point ... although set in historical building, the cieling in dining room is low, with full attendance it is hard to hear people even across the table & the noise is amplified by low cieling & close proximity of other diners.Voir plus

Pro tip: Don't be an idiot like me & try going through the front doors. Candide is situated at the back. Facing the front there's a walkway to the left that will lead you to a porch with an outdoor patio with hanging lights. We really appreciated our experience at Candide. From the locally sourced produce & livestock to the every changing menu you have to appreciate their mission to provide the best available options in a sustainable manner. From beginning to end our four course meal provided hit after hit. There were no bad plates & we made sure to clean our plates as best as possible. We were extremely satisfied after our last bite & would definitely consider going back the next time we visit Montreal.Voir plus

If you love good food, execution & the movie The Menu (in the best way) please go to this restaurant. I don't think I could fault a single thing. Service was outstanding. Every course was delicious. & every wine pairing was unique, fitting & delicious. The team is wonderful & you can tell they love what they do. 1110. Go! Ask questions!
