I love this place! Great food, & super quick & efficient service, totally recommend!View more
Very nice place inside. But the man was rude & irritable. The food was bland, ordered fried rice & tofu. The tofu seemed to be stale & difficult to chew on because it was so overcooked/fried.View more
I ate there last year while I was visiting Montreal. It was like stepping back in time to the 60's. The same neighborhood people eating there, the same traditional Cantonese menu, all done very well without an ounce of pretense.View more
Once a really good Chinese restaurant on the level of the old Yangtze restaurant on Van Horn. But they closed & Pékin Garden moved to the east side of queen Mary road & since that they just don't seem to have that same quality. It's a decent place to eat but it's not a place you have a nice dinner out meal with family or a date. Very dated old interior & menues should be replaced. For a quick lunch under $15 for one with soup & a small portion of rice, the main protein & what not is decent & quick but it hits the spot to full the belly. Value: lunch time maybe not dinner time. Service: reasonable but nothing to applause. Parking is tough. Selection: typical old style Chinese Canadian selection. Pineapple chicken filled with way too much breading - like no chicken practically. Soup broth poor & lacks flavour as do wontons. Beef too chewy. General Tao too sugary & too much breading. Egg rolls cheap & tasteless. Quality & freshness: well......View more

Good cheap Chinese food good for an easy going date with your wifeView more
This restaurant has an unspoken rule: if you bring wine, tip 15%. If you leave 10%, you won't get dessert. But this is not said anywhere, guess for yourself.View more
Bel endroit pour dîner ou souper, les options son délicieuses. Bon rapport qualité-prix, peopre & belles décorations de qualité.
Nous gardons ca resto dans nos choix pour ces raisons. Nous le recommandons fortement!View more
Very good General Tao but the service is bad especially the dude at the front desk, seems to be a manager or whatever, should learn the basics of customer service

I went to this restaurant during the ice storm 2023, actually last night. It was around 8 pm, & the restaurant was about 20% full. I went to the counter, the woman was on her phone ignoring me, so I politely asked, "is your kitchen still open?" She yelled, "Yes, but you'll have to wait!" I said, "ok". Then 5 mins later, the waiter looked at me yells, "Over there!", I said pardon" & he yelled louder & "there!" pointing with his head while his hands were empty. So extremely rude I walked out. Keep in mind, this was when we were 1.1 million people without electricity & there was no need to be that rude in these very hard times when you are a person alone without power for 4 days. The restaurant was about 1/5th full. Shame on them.
For the past 12 years, Pekin Garden had been our family favorite restaurant. It had its ups & downs, but generally we were pleased by their food & always returned. Sadly that has changed.
We ordered delivery & it arrived *COLD*. Not luke warm, completely at room temperature, cold. Even the soup! Needless to say it was ruined, cold & soggy, sauces congealed (reheating in the microwave did not revive it). Far more concerning, the egg-rolls were burnt (almost blackened!) flattened & dried out, & several dishes had unusually low-quality meat & chicken that could not be chewed. Overall the food was terrible in taste--cold or not! On top of this, they carelessly forgot to include a main dish dipping-sauce we ordered, which we paid an extra surcharge on. After a few bites it left us feeling sick & we had to THROW IT ALL OUT. A dinner for two that cost $50!
I politely phoned in about the issue, but was told it's our fault because we ordered at a busy time & their driver has many drop offs. To add insult, they charged an extra $3.00 delivery surcharge when they are incapable of organizing deliveries. I called a few days later to speak to the owner, but to no avail. Instead they rudely told me off & spoke over me, not even willing to listen or apologize. I said we won't ever return & they are losing long time customers, & they literally said THEY DO NOT CARE! I can overlook high prices & shrinking portions, but food so bad it has to be thrown out? & then to be apathetic & rude to your customers when they tactfully voice concern? Unfortunately we will never order from Pekin Garden again. I cannot recommend them any longer & I hope this can go out as a warning to anyone new or long time customers. This restaurant has gone way downhill in recent months. Avoid at all costs!
i called in to order from the menu, manager was too busy to clarify the items because the menu has changed. Told me that if i wanted to order take out to come in. i ordered a few times & food is subpar. unfortunately only chinese food restaurant in my area.
My advice STAY AWAY do not waste your money or time here. I HAD A HORRIBLE experience . I ordered shrimp fried rice & paid 15$ all to receive 5 shrimp in my rice & with a funny taste !! I noticed the shrimp had poo inside ALL 5 🤢??? #2 The sweet & sour ribs are absolutely horrible they were dripping in fat & had no MEAT just fat. #3 AFTER calling the manager & sending proof with pictures!!! He was extremely rude !! & said "maybe that is not the style you like ? but the food is normal . sorry" stay away is my advice
Do not order from this place. The service is disgusting. My food came without the sauce & when I called to complain, they said the driver would bring me my sauces right away. Almost an hour later, they said the driver has too many deliveries to make & can't come bring me the sauce. That's how they treat you once they get your money. They refused to offer me a refund for this service. STAY AWAY!
WE ORDERED DELIVERY, SHAME ON THEM THE FOOD WAS N O T WHAT WE ORDERED, IT WAS SLAPPED TOGETHER IN THE DELIVERY BAG . I PAID PREMIUM & GOT GARBAGE.mY WIFE & I WERE SICK ALL NIGHT. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. WE USED TO ORDER FROM THEM TEN YEARS AGO. NOW IT IS A FADED MEMORY OF FORMER G O O D DAYS.
A great neighbourhood eatery. But - after we had gone there for the third time in less than 1 month, I started noticing that the General Tao Chicken's sauce was not the Tao sauce but the one used for the orange duck. The sauce was good, too thick, though, & too sweet. The Tao is a totally different sauce & a bit spicy. It seems that they sugar everything (even the dry garlicky spare ribs).
Do not order from these people. After a one hour wait, I called & was told it was on the way. A clear lie as they did not even check & the food showed up a half hour later - & I was only a few blocks away from the restaraunt.
