Arrived here with my wife on Valentine's Day 2019 for a 7:30pm reservation. Sat down and the first question the waiter asked me was how I was paying. A strange question to ask someone before ordering but I answered cash. After 25 minutes my order was placed officially according to our manager (more on that later). We had our entree served around 20 minutes later. At around 9pm our main course never arrived and we witnessed two tables leave due to the main courses not arriving. We were unable to stay any longer as being there for 1.5h without a main course at an all you can eat restaurant is just plain unacceptable. So we decided to leave and asked to be charged for just what we ate. Our soups, shrimp toast, salad, peanut dumplings and a beer. We asked the waiter for the bill and he came back with the full amount 95$. I then told him this was unacceptable and offered him half the bill as there was no service performed. Plus they never even came once to remove the dishes on our table the entire time we were there. The manager refused this offer and demanded we pay the full amount and that if we didn't he would call the cops. I told him this was completely unacceptable and then he threatened to take my license down and chase me down. Talk about customer service here. At 9:30 he brought me my food in a take out bag and out of shear disappointment I paid the full amount. Please stay away from this shameful restaurant and what a true horrible experience for my wife and I to experience on Valentine's Day.
We had reservation, but still had to wait aver an hour to be seated. They seemed lost .The service at this restaurant is slow and inattentive. DONT ORDER DRINKS, they are terrible and poorly made . The restaurant has no ambiance and is really old and outdated. When you enter , there's a plaque on the wall with a good review, buts its dated 1991.
They have a good selection, but food is either too sweet or extremely bland. The overall experience was not worth the expense.
It may have been good once (1991), but not now.
I do not recommend this resto.
Good service, AMAZING food. The shrimp toast is a definite must, we ordered 4 servings of it, by the buffet option hehe. Only con: very expensive!!!
This was my first time eating here and while the reviews made me a little apprehensive my date assured merge food would be excellent. And it was. I have a very serious seafood/shellfish allergy and they had noted it with the reservation and the kitchen had no problem accommodating us. The food was excellent, the service was spot on and we had a wonderful evening.
I strongly feel anyone who left this restaurant unimpressed was there on an off night. Everyone I've spoken to about this place has had nothing but good things to say about it and I count myself among those who would recommend it and definitely go back.
My absolute favourite chinese food! Everything we have tried has been excellent. We always get take-out so cannot speak to the service.
I have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time, and the food is always amazing. Great authentic food that is not drenched in sauce. Probably the best restaurant in the West Island! Try the pan fried noodles, they are wonderful!
The service is great, with the waiters always passing by in order to fulfill the customers' needs.
nothing amazing but not bad at all ... i went 2 times this summer and the ac was broken and they have big windows = lots of sun! very uncomfortable to eat in, other then that food was not bad at all but service could have been better, the man barely spoke to us (kind of akward.
The food was very tasty and fresh. I am not crazy about the ambiance. Feels more like a reception hall than a restaurant.
went back to this resto not too long ago, and i was disappointed. Food wasn't as tasty, it was cold, and service was not the greatest. Very choppy, quick, and a bit on the rude side.
The service at this restaurant is the worst. The waiters are aloof, slow and inattentive. The restaurant completely lacks ambiance and I felt like I was sitting on the side of a corridor or a hallway while I was actually in a slightly elevated section of the main room, and to make matters worse the food was extremely bland. The overall experience was not worth the expense and I can't understand how this establishment got its reputation as an above average Chinese restaurant because the foos and service are way beneath the standards of even an average Chinese restaurant. I was very unhappy with my experience at this restaurant and I won't be going back.
So I went to La Perle last week, and we were 4 people. We went for lunch and the menu was not very extensive, but then again the price was lower. The restaurant outdoors decor is horrible, the indoors is ok, although nothing special. The table cloth, dishes and everything looked clean egnough. The service was ok although sometimes waiters took their sweet ass time. The food itself was very much to our liking.
won ton soup - average
fried won ton - yummy!
peanut butter won ton (?) - it was good but not brilliant
srping rolls - pretty good
ok i can't remember what else we had from the entrees
then we had:
- pepper chicken with spinach - very nice
- seasame beef - the best i have ever had!
-general tao - pretty good
- chicken fried rice - not great ..... like cafeteria food
- some curry chicken thing - nobody liked this dish
-some shrimp in this red sauce - delicious
- shangai noodles - good but nothign special
Other stuff but I cant remember what else.
Overall i would say that i liked eating there quite a lot. The food was well prepared and the Lunch price is ok. I dont know if they have a different menu in the evening but if they dont the price is 26$ and 27 on the weekends and it is not worth it if its the same menu was for lunch.
for lunch it was like 16$ or 17$ and it was definetely worth it
Try it out, its a nice place and the 4 of us will go back.
One of my favorite restaurant.. The food is truly great and the atmosphere is wonderful. Everyone needs to try their peanut butter dumplings since they are known for it.. The price is good for what you get (but might get pricy with wine). Either way, great place to go with a date, friends, and family. Larger groups are probably better so that you can ty mor eof the foods.
The service is the worst. We went as a large group on my birthday - of all days - and the waiters were just not interested in serving us. We chose things on the menu and they would not bring them out because they thought we were not going to finish it. Very disappointing. Worst of all was the food though and perhaps the waiters guessed right. Some of it was warm and just completely nasty. The place creates an image of class and sophistication but is not any better than your basic Chinese restaurant downtown on a busy street. The key to Chinese food is not serving it sloppy; not adding more oil when it is not necessary; not putting more sauce, sweeteners or artificial elements when they are not required. The place does well because there is not competition in the area.
great place to eat , price is according to other places, think about it u eat what u want and till u drop? so if u want to spend 10$, go to Mc donalds ., only problem for me is the seating to close to every body else ,u could actualy hear every body's conversation but worth going.
OK, well the location isn't great and nor is the decor. The food however is pretty good. Expect typical Chinese restaurant fare, but of decent quality for the pirce you pay. The only major complaint about the food is the lack of dessert choices but overall a pretty good place.
My husband and I found this place cold and drab. The place needs a fresh coat of paint and the waiters need new attitudes. The food was nothing special and the rude waiters really make for an unpleasant evening.
The dining room view of the parking lot is nothing to boast about. I went on a Friday night and the restaurant was bustling. The minimalist decor strains to contend with all the noise. But the main reason you'll want to eat here is the food. The dumplings in peanut sauce and the orange beef are a must. Overall, the food impresses and is fairly priced. Lastly, our server (who I think was the manager) was surprisingly knowledgeable about wine and made great recommendations, which was something you don't see a lot of in Chinese restaurants.
