They were so kind & gave use a free pizza & pineapple to finish the meal. We loved our pasta which was made on the spot by a chef in the back & loved the cozy vibe of the restaurant. We could not recommend it more!View more
What a fantastic place to go out to dinner, change the atmosphere, feel well cared for & have an exquisite meal.! It has been my favorite Italian restaurant in Montreal for 7 years & the quality is still impressive, thank you guys for such a cozy & unique placeView more

I enjoy places with a cozy, warm & unpretentious atmosphere & Chez Di Vito has all of them. The small, brick walled dining room seats perhaps 2 dozen people, though it was only half full on the Thursday night we were there. There's a fixed menu written on a blackboard & daily specials that the friendly waitress told us about. This is pretty much an old school Italian restaurant, with all that you would expect in one; antipasti, salads, veal & eggplant Parmigiano, pastas & pizzas, etc. I had an entrée of prosciutto & meloni, which was served on a bed of lettuce, cherry tomatoes & ( a surprise for me, a sliced pickle) & a ball of mozzarella! There was a huge amount of the ham ( cut too thick in my opinion) but tasty. My friend had the house salad ( large enough for 2 people), with lettuce, tomatoes & a large slice of, I think, ricotta cheese. We were surprised when the waitress brought us a large, roasted vegetable pizza to accompany the entrées. She said it was on the house to replace the bread! Main courses were; spinach & cheese ravioli in rosée sauce for my friend & spaghetti carbonara for me. Both were tasty but the sauce for the carbonara was too thin & runny & tasted mostly of milk. Prices here are very reasonable ( from $16-$32 ) especially considering the generous portions. & this is a "bring your own wine" place so bring along a good bottle to enjoy with your meal! This is not a gourmet restaurant but the food is good, the prices are right, the portions generous, the atmosphere is warm & cozy & the staff, friendly & helpful. If you're looking for a neighbourhood restaurant to pass an enjoyable evening with a friend or friends, with a satisfying meal in a nice atmosphere, then you'll enjoy yourself at Chez Di Vito.View more
