PoutineWeek at TABOO Cuisine Rebelle

This year marks the 8th edition of the PoutineWeek, which will take place from February 1st to February 7th, 2020. More than fifty restaurants in Montreal have put together their version of THE winning poutine, just for you.

We went to the TABOO Cuisine Rebelle restaurant located downtown Montreal to see what they had to offer for this year's contest. Winners of the judge's choice in 2018 and the public's choice in 2019, the pressure was on for the TABOO Cuisine Rebelle this year. Well, they are strongly returning by presenting us with the Poutine Tao. Poutine made with their homemade fries, Kingsey cheese, roasted broccoli and bell peppers, port wine demi-glace sauce, garnished with general tao fried chicken as well as green onions and Thai peppers.

Our verdict: delicious!

Perfectly cooked fries, a sauce both sweet and tangy, melting cheese, crispy chicken and a bit of vegetable to make you feel less guilty (haha!), We loved it. A vegetarian option is also available made with vegetarian gravy and crispy tofu instead of chicken.

If you are in the Lanaudière region, their other restaurant located in L'Assomption is also competing, but this year with a different version from what they are offering at the downtown location. The Poutine Magma is made of sweet potato fries, Kingsey cheese, port wine demi-glace sauce, grilled chicken, bell peppers, parmesan croquettes coated in a hot sauce, garnished with caramelized onions and arugula. It is possible to replace the grilled chicken with some fried one or by some veggie balls.
