From Montreal to Laval: Mirazu's story
Mirazu originally opened in 2017 in Montreal at 5215 Boul. Saint-Laurent in the Mile-End. Wanting to offer an enhanced version of what one might have known about Middle Eastern cuisine, they do everything on-site in the traditional way such as, the bread being handmade every day. The cooking of meat, vegetables, fish, and seafood with charcoal, they serve hot and cold mezze as you would find in Turkey.
While talking with their clientele, they notice that many of them come directly from the North Shore to enjoy a good traditional Turkish meal. Also, many European and Middle Eastern immigrants live in Laval. That's when the search began for a location where people could easily park and be closer to their homes to enjoy the Mirazu experience. In March 2023, the restaurant opened at 1698 Saint-Martin Boulevard O in Laval. They serve exactly the same menu as the first location.
Specialties
Lamb is a specialty not to be missed during your visit to Mirazu. They use meat from Quebec which is of good quality and traditional Turkish cuisine. Served in different forms, you can try the lamb shank, flatbread, kebab, or skewers.
Ad
Who says Turkish cuisine, says mezzes. Equivalent to tapas, these are several small dishes that can be shared as a starter. For example in hot mezzes, we think of Gul Kelem (fried cauliflower, sheep yogurt, and clarified butter with spices), Isli Patlican (smoked eggplant au gratin in the oven), or Inegol Kofte (grilled ground beef balls). Cold mezzes include homemade hummus, Sarma (stuffed vine leaves), or Baba Ghannouj.
If you like seafood, you will be delighted with the fillet of sea bass or the garlic shrimp.
Vegetarians can also find excellent mezze and traditional main dishes such as shakshuka (fried eggplant), hummus with vegetables, and fried cauliflower.
Brunch
In Turkey, unlike many Middle Eastern countries, breakfast is an important meal and people take the time to enjoy it with friends and/or family. That's why Mirazu offers brunch service on weekends in its two locations. You can take a menu for 2 or more people to share a board containing their brunch specialties. Take the opportunity to drink their coffee or Turkish tea, a delight!
If you would like to visit with a group of 10 or more for brunch or dinner, please contact them, they have several menu options that can accommodate your needs. They also offer a catering service for your special events.
