2021 has been a special year, but some positives have come out of it with several great restaurant openings. 

We have gathered our favorites that are presented here so that you can discover them for yourself.

Faccia Brutta

Opened in the fall, Faccia Brutta is a modern and casual Italian restaurant in Lasalle. The menu changes with the seasons and the availability of ingredients, but you can always be sure to find some of the best pasta in town. The charcoal grill will give your vegetables and meat an exceptional taste. The friendly staff will make you feel at home very quickly. They will be able to advise you on the best wine for your taste and your meal. If you are a cocktail lover, make your special requests and the bartender will concoct it for you. They are open for lunch with the possibility of enjoying a gourmet sandwich or the pasta of the day. Don't forget to make a reservation online before you go.

Yin Ji Chang Fen

If you're a Chinese food lover, this restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine from Guangdong province and Hong Kong. Whether it's for lunch, dinner, snack or supper, the dim sums and congee soups will satisfy you. You can hydrate yourself with Hong Kong style milk tea, sweet soy milk or cola with lemon. Their menu gives you the perfect opportunity to (re) discover typical dishes like rice rolls, beef tendon dumplings, fresh tofu rolls, phoenix legs, sticky rice stuffed with lotus leaf, congee soup or dumplings. It is possible to eat in, but this place is famous for its take-out and delivery orders.

Sortez les canons !

Recently opened by two wine and food enthusiasts, Sortez les Canons! in Beloeil is a pleasant discovery. The word "canon" refers to a glass of wine, perfect name for a wine bar! In a relaxed atmosphere, taste privately imported wines from all over the world while savoring a market cuisine. If you don't know which wine to choose, let the team advise you, they will know how to direct you according to your tastes. If you wish to continue the pleasure at home, an online store is available to buy your favorite bottles. As for the food, the menu changes according to the ingredients available, but you can find dishes such as salmon tartar, an assortment of cold cuts, burger or grilled cheese sandwich. Choose whatever you want and share it with family and friends! 


Sushi Hidden Fish

If you're passing through downtown Montreal and have a craving for quality sushi, this is a stop we highly recommend. The fish are finely selected and preserved to ensure high quality and optimal taste. Chef Haruo Ogruro is the only one in Montreal licensed to prepare the famous puffer fish (Fugu). They are the only ones in Montreal to offer a Kaiseki Omakase: a menu where you trust the chef to prepare dishes with high quality ingredients. The a la carte selection is diverse and allows you to order your classics while indulging in A5 certified wagyu, otoro or Hokkaido uni. 

Ruby's Café (Doggieville MTL)

Here's a great place to enjoy a good meal with your pet. The restaurant has been revamped with a brand new menu designed by Arnaud Glay (chef/owner of Passé composé). Located in Saint-Henri, at Ruby's Café, you can not only eat there, but your pets can stay there since it is in the Doggieville Montreal hotel. Open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm, you can have a good brunch, lunch, a cocktail and/or a good coffee. When you visit, we suggest you try the sloppy dog, the shepherd or the BLT Ruby. They are a great option to start the day, even if you don't have a dog!

Restaurant Noraka

A fine oriental cuisine restaurant in Côte-des-Neiges, you will find excellent authentic Thai dishes. Whether you like spicy food or not, there is something for everyone! Start with a good tom yum soup, ravioli or satay skewers. Continue with a yam salad with spicy chicken or beef or the won sen vermicelli salad. For the main course, the toad block is perfect for those who like spicy dishes, the green curry for comforting flavors or the general Pa. If you feel like sticking with your classics, opt for their burger or steak. Follow their social media to find out their opening hours. 

Le Marlow

If you like to create your own food and wine pairings, this new bistro in St-Hubert will charm you. This bring your own wine offers an open kitchen with a casual atmosphere. The modern bistro style cuisine adapts to the products available in the markets with a menu that changes with the seasons. If you want to experience well-prepared and presented local products, you must visit or order to go. The service is friendly and the staff will be happy to guide you through the dishes and ingredients used. If you can't eat in, order their take-out menu by phone and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.

SAmon Sushi

If you love eating sushi and can't stop, Samon Sushi is a destination to try in Boucherville. Live a memorable experience as the quality of the ingredients is paramount. You will also be able to taste udon noodles, takoyaki, teriyaki shrimps, waxed chicken or teppanyaki dishes. All can be found there whether you like raw fish, cooked fish or cooked dishes. At the same time, enjoy good sake, imported beers or their cocktails. It is possible to make your own menu on the spot or to take away!

Mici D'ici

What do you know about Romanian cuisine? Mici d'ici will help you get to know Romanian street food. Their star dish is definitely the mici which is made of quality meat, spiced and cooked on a grill. You can enjoy it in different formats: poutine, sandwich, in a slider or alone. You may have seen on social media the famous sausage pop pictured here. Boeuf cochon Rosemère

New branch opened at the end of 2021, Boeuf Cochon is now available in Rosemère. Enjoy meats aged on site, a huge cellar combining private imports and wines offered at the SAQ in a festive atmosphere. Find their famous ribs, their burgers, quality meat or tartars. There is something for everyone on the menu! They have two other locations in Laval and Saint-Jérôme, others will be added soon with new franchisees.



Chez Éric

This restaurant was established for many years in Old Montreal and known for offering great evenings with food, live music and when possible: dancing. They moved to Brossard keeping the same menu and concept, however, the dining room and parking lot are large and can accommodate up to 250 people! You can enjoy good French dishes such as lobster, pasta, meats and more. The table d'hôte is always changing, allowing you to discover different dishes during each of your visits.

Although 2021 was not easy for the restaurant industry, these restaurateurs were courageous enough to open new restaurants so let's keep encouraging them!
