As many other of my fellow “commenters”, I watch Chuck's day's off regularly on TV and finally decided to try out Garde-Manger. Considering Chuck’s TV popularity, our expectations were very high. We were 4 people. First off, a little note to Chuck...please replace your plates. Three out of four plates which were served had tons of black marks on them(They were clean, just overly used). We were also served water in a couple of dirty glasses. Customers should not see these things in a restaurant of that calibre. I would not say we had a bad experience but for sure it was way below our expectations. The food we had was just okay. We shared appetizers including Lobster Poutine (Not great – too greasy and salty), Tomato Salad (Not that great – too salty) and Octopus Tempura (Very good – Best of all 3 appetizers). For main course, we shared one Lobster Risotto plate and a medium size seafood platter. Other than the tenderness of the lobster, the 49$ risotto was a flop. On the other hand, the seafood platter (crab, oysters, scallops and shrimps) was very good and fresh with the exception of shrimp that seemed to be precooked days in advance. For desert, we had the Fried Mars Bar with ice cream (Excellent) and a Fruit Cream Crumble (Horrible-just recently added on their desert menu). The crumble was hard as a rock. The waitress (Catherine) was extremely nice and I would say her service was the best part about the whole Garde-Manger experience.
