just got back from what was simply put, the best no-frills tapas meal i've ever had in this city. from the onset, i was impressed with a really accommodating wine list and a very friendly waiter who had us laughing all night. the place was packed and he still managed to make us laugh as though we were in a quiet intimate setting. his recommendations on both wine and food were fantastic. the pork carpaccio was one of the most delectable dishes i've ever tried, the paella for 2 was among the best i've tried and the chorizo was out of this world. tapeo does the tapas meal a tremendous honor and puts together delicious tapas dishes in a simple and comforting way. definitely making a return visit very soon.

What hasn't been said about this restaurant? I don't think I can permit myself to eat there more than a few times a year and although you'd think it's really pricey, you can get out of there having had a really good meal for less than you'd expect. The service is friendly but a a little brusque although I can't really criticize them on that point because the restaurant is packed to the gills at all times during operating hours. Menu highlights include the duck carpaccio, garnished with finely chopped mushrooms truffle oil and a perfectly poached egg yolk (a steal at something like $14). The duck in a can is a gluttonous divine experience: duck breast and foie gras in a can, need i say more. The pig's foot stuffed with foie gras is exceptional and you might as well sample the poutine au foie gras, cause what the hell? I've never managed to find room for dessert there, so can't comment on that. Oh, for you brave ones, try the tarragon bison tongue. Exceptional. Also the guinea hen mousse is a nice accompagnement to your appetizers.
