I have eaten here several times and it is now my go-to resto for brunch in Verdun. There is nothing special about the basic breakfasts, but the Eggs Benedict are fantastic! I highly recommend it. The only thing that is bad is the coffee. It is terrible. I mean REALLY terrible. Watered-down and bitter. And this is not based on just one visit... Go for the food ad order tea instead of the coffee and you will love your breakfast.

Not sure what to think about this place. I had heard some bad reviews from friends but wanted to see for myself. I had two reasons for wanting it to be at least decent: first - I live in Verdun and there are no pubs here - but the Burgundy is a very short and convenient bus ride from my doorstep. Second - I wanted some real British pub food - especially breakfast. I went on a Sunday just before noon to trial the English Breakfast. It was what I expected - English Food. And though I would have hoped a little more effort would have gone into the food rather than the presentation, it was still okay but certainly not worth the $$ charged for it. The second problem was the Guinness. I drink Guinness a lot. A LOT. I don't care if this is a "British Pub" - Guinness is bloody popular in England. If you want to p*&% a Guinness drinker off - poor one with 2 inches of head and then charge $8 for it. I had planned on drinking at least a couple and watching the football game - but decided to go to Hurley's - a proper "Pub" and give them my patronage instead. Disappointing.

I'm a Hurley's regular. I had my first pint of Guinness here 10 years ago and have been coming back ever since. (I'm hoping that someday I can have a plaque above my seat at the bar with my name on it...) The menu is pretty good, though keep in mind that it is pub food so if you are watching your calorie intake - this might not be the place for you. With that in mind, indeed the swiss mushroom burger is a highlight - so is the fish & chips. The wings are also great (ask for sour cream), and though they are listed as an appetizer, they are big enough to be considered a small meal. Surprisingly the French onion soup has real Gruyere cheese which is the way it should be done. The music here is always great, especially "Solstice", which are Hurley's regulars. This place has it all: good food, good service, good music and definitely good beer! Ask for Guinness from the "warm tap" - the way it should be poured and tell them CJ told you to order it that way :)

The food and the service here is good. It's pub food for the most part but the menu is more diverse than most pubs in the neighbourhood, and some of the dishes are quite healthy. The bison burger is a highlight, but so are the fish and chips - which I think are the best of the "Irish" Pubs downtown. I think I have only ever had one bad meal here and I've eaten at McKibbons a lot. I've been going to this pub for a long time - since they opened as McKibbons. Though I still like it, to be honest, I liked it a lot more in its infancy. I don't consider this an Irish Pub - yes, it has a selection of Irish beers and the main bar is quite nice, but apart from that..? They used to have Irish music, perhaps they still do but I haven't heard it and anytime that I've stumbled upon live music it's been awful (in my opinion) cover band stuff of overplayed Eagles and John Denver tunes. Fortunately there does not appear to be live music until late at night. I used to like to come here on weekends but they started catering to the college crowd a few years ago and it's become a Concordia hangout. What I do like, is to have lunch or dinner after work with a couple of Guiness to follow-up. When it's quiet I like this place and their food. When it's busy you can find me at one of the other pubs in the neighbourhood.

I've been going to this place off and on for years. It's gone through various changes. At one time it was quite homey - they even had board games in the side room. It's expanded a lot and has become mainly a young college hangout. I work at a school and I can also say that there are underage kids frequenting this place (I've seen students from my school there on several occasions - which is part of the reason why I avoid it on the weekends now), which I think th emanagement should be concerned about and ask for ID more often. I like the Scotch Ale beer and the new one - Zero G. The others are hit and miss and are perhaps a personal taste. Bands: as with all live local bands - some are good and some are very, very, VERY bad. Though I do like that they have live stuff (even when it's bad) because there are not too many places left that support local bands. Food: I stopped trying to eat here a long time ago. Perhaps they have the kitchen going great now - I can't say - I've had too many bad meals here to ever try again. If you like a young, noisy crowd and some unique beer this place is for you. I don't go often, but when I want to here some fresh loud, local music - this is my choice.

This is an incredible little place. The atmosphere and ambiance are relaxing and the service always welcoming. The desserts are fantastic and the selection of tea wonderful. The perfect place to go and relax, by yourself or with someone else. I have never regretted going here and wish I could find more time to go more often. A neighbourhood gem; I'm thankful it is here.

I'm not really sure why people choose to eat here. Though the food is apparently alright (they charred my ribs, but the mashed potatoes were good) the ambiance is horrid. It is busy, loud and distracting. Not exactly fine dining. But if you like the feeling that you are eating in the middle of a carnival, then I guess this place is for you. The only reason I can think why this place is popular must be the result of tremendous marketing.

This place has been a trusted stand-by restaurant for me in my neighbourhood. Though it isn't bad, I go more often than I would if more restaurants were open throughout the week. The food can be really good or really dull. I usually stick to plain and simple - get a burger or a sandwich - the pizza is not bad either. But I don't know how many times they have given me a charred bun for my burger - which was so obvious no self-respecting cook would send it to a table. I finally sent the last one back. The staff can be really nice or really snotty too. There are one or two "hot" waitresses that can treat you like they are too good to be bring you food. But if it's a tuesday night and you want to eat out and don't want poutine - the garage is the place to go in Verdun...
