Imadake Izakaya
Westmount
Service

4.0

Best word to describe this restaurant is madness. If this website had an ambiance/atmosphere rating, Imadake would be on the top list. It is so loud. Went there on a Thursday with a group, the restaurant was flooded with people. Everyone's shouting SAKE BOMB! all the time, the staff cheers and drinks and seems to lose control but still keeps it running. The menus are a bit messy to understand since you're dealing with traditional Japanese finger food but you just order random stuff and it's always ranks from edible to delicious. Takoyaki dish is a must, and at 25$/bottle of hot saké, it is so cheap to get the party started. Note : For big groups make the reservation a few days in advance, and make it around 8pm or later. Otherwise there might be a group scheduled after you.

Great comeback! I had been a regular at la Banquise for a long time but eventually left in the "Danse la Poutine" era where tons of completely wasted people we're just hanging out there for hours being totally noisy and disrespectful. The place straightened up just enough to feel like and institution again and the waiting line is again worth the wait. The staff is incredibly patient with everyone and their poutine is still among the best in the world. Don't know why I did that, but one night I tried to order something else than poutine, and the shepherd's pie was horrible.

Cozy restaurant with ingenious design and vintage bare bulb lightning. I love the fact that the kitchen is located in the center because it's entertaining to see the whole communication and preparation process. This is comfort food like a caring grandmother would do, heartwarming but too salty in my opinion. Service is sharp and they take good care of the food allergies. Wine card is a mixed bag, they seem to be experiencing with some "unstable" wine selection and it's either very good or ... I would say strange. Went there a few times, I really enjoyed it in winter, perfect place for a date and the sunday morning brunch is a must. In summer time I wouldn't recommend the table that's on your left next to the kitchen when you enter the restaurant, the heat from the oven is almost unbearable. But if it's the only place left, might still be worth it.
