New Verdun Restaurant
Verdun

2.0

I've been a patron of this restaurant for years. I've lived in Verdun all of my life. I remember going there as a child, going to hang out there as a teenager, ordering out when I lived further away... But the service and quality have only gone down through the years and with my latest experience I've decided that I'm not going back or ordering from them again. The waitress was petulant, arrogant and generally unhelpful. The "new" menu was reduced to remove as much options as they could (for example, they only have one size of poutine while in restaurant, while it's possible to have different formats on take-out or delivery. It's no longer possible to have a pitcher of soda. It was a whole issue to split a Chinese combo between two people). A friend asked if he could have his meal in a take-out container because he'd have to run after having a bite or two but she told him that it was impossible. I asked for clarifications: it was possible for him to have it in a take-out container, but if he chose to take it that way he was forbidden to eat there. Flippantly, she told us that if we weren't happy we could leave or talk to the owner (while I understand she might not have the executive power to satisfy our demands, there is such a thing as customer service). All this and in the end, the quality of our food was poor. Not worth the expense at all. Needless to say, we are not going back. At this point, you'd be happier going to McDonalds.

You can mix-and-match your meal, pairing a choice of meats and seafood with different sauces. Most plates come with a cabbage appetizer that is original and amazing. The soup is also delicious and included in the meal. You can add appetizers if you want but the portions are so generous that you don't really need to! A lot of the food is fried and can be heavy, so maybe not the best choice if you are on a diet... But the coconut shrimp is to die for. Staff is very attentive without being overbearing. From the outside the restaurant doesn't really look appealing. The decor isn't inviting or modern... But it's gone better over time. Price range: Appetizers $3-$4, mains $11-$14, desserts $3.50
