Chez Devi
Downtown
Service
Food
3.5

Devi's is a good upscale Indian restaurant. However, upscale comes at a price. I find that they 'white' up their spicing - in other words, while the food is quite flavorful (the naan is especially wonderful) it lacks the kick that I really want in Indian food. Even the jalfrazi barely sizzles. Of course, I like spice. I am happy eating foods that make my nose run and eyes tear. I actually have a hot sauce collection . . . so take my criticism as you will. That being said, the service is always good and they have a well priced lunch special (by downtown standards, not by hole-in-the-wall Indian food standards). They also have a tendency to throw in extra stuff with your lunch, like chicken pakoras . . . unfortunately, I'm a vegetarian so I don't particularly like the additional chicken on my plate, but I do appreciate the sentiment and the focus on customer service. In my opinion, Devi is a great place to go if you want Indian food without the burn or if someone you know is looking for that. It's good and I am happy to go with coworkers for lunch, but I wouldn't go to get my spicy Indian fix.

Sushi Plus
Town of Mont-Royal
Service
Food
4.5

I have been to Sushi Plus on three separate occasions. It's in a location where a few different restaurants have opened and closed pretty soon afterward. Please go here so that it stays open and I can get my sushi. They provide all-you-can eat sushi at VERY reasonable prices. Out of all the all-you-can-eat places this is my favourite. They also have a little card that they stamp each time you buy a meal and when you buy 9 dinners, the 10th is free. This comes in very handy if you're going out with a group. The staff is nice and quick and there's a big screen TV (hockey, anyone?) The fish tastes fresh to me. My favourite roll is crispy but I also like the one with mango. The terriaki (sp?) eggplant is delicious. I'm not a stickler for authenticity with my sushi, but care more about the taste. The sushi here tastes good. That's what I care about. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
