Jardins de lumière 2026 returns to the Montréal Botanical Garden for its 14th edition, inviting visitors to discover the gardens after dark through a magical and immersive experience where light, sound and nature come together. From September 3 to November 1, 2026, the Chinese, Japanese and Indigenous Peoples gardens will be transformed into luminous nighttime landscapes filled with colorful lanterns, projections, artistic installations and soundscapes.
This year's edition introduces a completely reimagined experience in the Indigenous Peoples Garden, celebrating its 25th anniversary. Titled "Resonance," the new immersive circuit was created through a collaborative process involving Indigenous artists and creators, including Anne Lagacé, Soleil Launière and Gonzalo Soldi. The experience brings together stories, music, artistic installations and perspectives inspired by the Indigenous Peoples of Québec, creating a meaningful connection between culture, nature and the land.
The journey continues through the Japanese and Chinese gardens, each offering its own atmosphere and artistic universe. Visitors can wander along illuminated pathways surrounded by thousands of colors, delicate silk lanterns and captivating light projections, while discovering how the gardens and surrounding vegetation take on a completely different character after sunset.
The approximately 2-kilometre outdoor route takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and can be explored at your own pace. Special programming for both children and adults, as well as food and beverage options on site, add to the evening experience. Timed admission is required, making it possible to plan your visit and enjoy the illuminated gardens once night falls.
