This restaurant really left us with a bad taste in our mouths! We were there for a friend’s birthday and will never return. The rude waiter’s most notable talent was scaring away the customers. My friend was not that hungry so he wanted to order an appetizer instead. The waiter said he had to order the minimum $50 table hote. That was outrageous. There was only 1 other table besides ours so we were not taking up space of any other customers…there was no reason for him to say that to a group of 12+ people. We could not tell whether it was the restaurant’s desperate policy or the waiter’s hunger for tips. The food was ok but very, very small portioned for what we paid for.
The Oysters at the Oyster Special night ($13 for a dozen) is an ok deal - just be careful that you can easily spend a lot of money on those specials. When the oysters arrive, they are surprisingly small. Fresh, but small and not filling at all. The service was slow that night when we went...the waitress seemed distracted or new.
The price range ($9-11) per dish is reasonable for the the reasonable tasting food. The food is fast service which is a big plus! Warning the look of the place is not the most charming because it looks like you are getting food served to you right out of a window.
Delicious section of drinks - highly recommended for resto-lounge / supper club with drinks or a date.
The service is good and the food is abundant - good quantity for the price - I highly recommend their meaty offers such as the BBQ ribs or their variety of burgers. It is also a stunning location for the Jazz Festival.
This high class Old Montreal restaurant first caught my eye when I was looking for a new hotspot to try one of my favourite dishes: Beef Tartare. The reviews were right. This place's dish variety were one mouthwatering option after another on the menu. I enjoyed the extra spices they sprinkled on the typical recipes. The only thing I would change would be the small portions of food on the plate and the speed of service. The waiters are just as yummy.
An explosive amount of food! My first time there, I was almost thinking of ordering an appetizer too. Good thing we did not because we already had to take home a lot of food from our dinner. I already know what I want to try next: the steak tartare! mmm.... It is a bit expensive for my budget so pace yourself.
For a Chinese restaurant, the menu items such as lemon chicken does not feel very ethnic. The decor is cheap just the menu prices.
Highly recommended Dim Sum restaurant. On the weekends, it is crazy packed so it is recommended that you get there before 11am for a great filling brunch experience. They do not take reservations because the line can get backed up to about an hour long. They have a variety of dim sum styled food such as assorted dumplings, fried wontons, congie soup, chow mein, steamed pork buns, etc. The service is the fastest I have ever seen in the Montreal. They trained bus boys and waitresses race across the tables like firemen race towards burning buildings. Because the speed is crucial to their operations, the only smile you will get is from the hostess calling out your seat number.
This is a hit spot in my books for small intimate dinners. The place has slower service because it is so busy. I highly recommend the mechant burger - with giant portions of beef and bacon. Belly-filling feeling afterwards. Their unique selection of drinks are also worth trying and goes remarkably well with their menu. The con about this trendy restaurant is that it is too trendy. It is not the a Plan B venue or somewhere you can just walk into without a preplanned reservation. Sometimes they are so busy, you ask for you to wait for over an hour to be seated or give you a limited eating time. So plan ahead and you won`t be disappointed.
Cheap and big portions served by friendly waitresses. The desserts are delicious too. I recommend this as a friendly gathering or sunday family dinner place.
The setting of a relatively nice decor does not match the dry rib meat and slightly over cooked chicken served. The atmosphere and service feels like a sports bar/ family restaurant but the meal tastes like something you get served when you are drunk at 2am and have the munchies so you do not care what you put in your mouth.
I found that it was really really expensive for mediocre tasting food. I've been there twice and still waiting for this "fancy restaurant on Crescent Street" to impress me. If you can convince your guest(s) to go elsewhere, I'd even recommend pub food instead.
