My boyfriend and I, along with our family and friends, have enjoyed numerous dinners at Lucille's since it opened last summer. It's one of our 'go-to' spots because of the friendly and welcoming staff, eclectic and ever-changing surf n' turf menu, and an overall wonderful ambiance. The overall restaurant motif is fifties diner, but with a clam shell twist. The interior is small, but you can eat happily at the bar, seated inside the restaurant and outside on the terrace in the summer. There's an oyster bar featuring a variety of ocean-dwelling creatures, following by an appropriate selection of appetizers and entrées. What I love about the food is that each dish is a unique piece and I've always loved every meal as a distinct entity! In particular, I recommend starting with the salmon tarter - must be one of the best in Montreal! Two final points: the wine list pairs well with the food, and once again, the staff is charming!

I ate at Restaurant Vallier this past weekend with my boyfriend and a group of friends for my boyfriend's birthday. The space is open and thus is ideal for group parties and the decor is inviting. Given the Saturday night on an Easter weekend, the place was quiet, but I can imagine that any other weekend the restaurant would be busy. The service was excellent - the staff was quick to accommodate our requests, and transition between courses went smoothly. The food was also delicious - what we really liked about the restaurant was the wide variety on the menu; you could order a yummy burger with salad and fries for $15.00, but also had the option of duck confit for a higher price. This worked well for our group which included a mix of young professionals/grad students. The presentation was also exceptional. I am sure we will be back for another enjoyable experience.

Wow! I went to Club Chasse et Peche with a few work associates, and was immediately breathtaken by the dazzling menu, impressive décor, and professional service. The dim lighting and eclectic decorations set the stage for complementary dining. To start, I began with the lightly seared scallops, and as my main moved on to the rabbit. If you like game, then you should try Club Chasse et Peche. Dessert was a chocolate bombe. The extensive wine list allowed for a great pairing of our meal with a Cabernet Sauvignon from California - divine.

Trendy Monkland hotspot. Great for a night out with your better half and/or a couple of friends. Standard fare meals, meaning nothing surprising or truly innovative, but sometimes we want simpler and more familiar food to warm our bellies. Love the pasta dishes, can't go wrong. I have to say that one time, I was charged an extra dollar on my monthly credit card bill than what I had signed for on my receipt.

This is the go-to place once you finished your bar night. I walked with friends from St. Laurent and Prince Arthur because the craving for good late night eats was so strong. It almost feels like overkill - but sometimes a poutine at 3:00 am is just what you need, yum! Just remember you might have a poutine hangover the next day.

Super trendy restaurant attached to the Hotel Nelligan. The food is good, although both times I are there my group waited a long time for our table, despite arriving on time for our reservations (30+ mins each time). The first time we were 5 people, the second we were 20. You decide if it's worth the wait. Anyway, try the burger, it's delicious, and the salmon is yummy too. The restaurant put together a table d'hote, which then makes your wines choices quite affordable. Order a couple of appetizers while you're waiting for dinner. The restaurant is a little dark for my liking, but I would be curious to go back in summer to see if it's any different.

When thinking of Ethiopia, food might be last on your list of things that come to mind. This said, Le Nil Bleu serves excellent traditional Ethiopian meals. If you haven't tried Ethiopian food, think of Indian food (curry based, lots of beans, you eat with your hands) and imagine a lighter flavour. I recommend ordering the combo platters and starting with the tomato/cucumber salad. You will leave stuffed to the gills and will be extremely satisfied. Worth trying once, and worth returning to over and over again.

Jardin de Panos is another Duluth gem. The food is excellent - it's great to start with a bunch of appetizers and then move to the main course. I love their chicken brochettes. I will definitely keep going back there for comfy meals with my friends :) Also, this a great restaurant to bring a group.

I had an excellent experience at Il Cortile - the food was excellent, albeit pricey, and the service prompt and adequate. They have a very good wine selection, and the decor made me feel like I was on vacation in Europe. Highly recommended for dinner outside on the terrace during summer.
