Amazing salads!!! Great quality ingredients, perfectly balanced, delicious yet not overpowering dressing, good portions, super efficient service for pickup. Will be back over and over and over again.

Tied for best ramen in Montreal for me. Delicious broth, tasty ramen, some kind of tempura tofu and some other non-identifiable but super-delicious toppings floating around. The staff is 100% Japanese and the service is what you would get in Japan. 13$ tax and tip included for lunch. Great! We'll definitely go back and often! (2013) Wow, how things have changed in 2018. Quality went down and prices went up. 21$ for ok ramen. Not going back.

The food is ok but nothing special. I had the back magic poke. It was tasty but the limited number of ingredients failed to make it more than just a basic poke. Tasty none the less but i had much much better at kazu (they don't call it poke but it is basically the same thing). Fast very courteous service. Nice restaurant set-up. But the food is not something that i will crave.

Super cool cocktail bar! It has a japanese vibe with some japanese inspired snacks that we didn't try. We just had cocktails. But they were amazing!!! Sooo tasty, prepared with care, slightly surprising, good quantity, not stingy on the alcohol. 5 star service from the barman as well!

Sooooo overrated!!! The food is just ok but the prices are way to high for what you get! The octopus balls don't have much octopus in them and while they taste ok, they taste exactly the same as at other "japanese" places in Montreal. If they want people to come taste them at biiru they better differentiate a bit... the okonomiaky is missing about 50% of the ingredients that you get in japan... and the short ribs are just sweet and spicy, no complexity what so ever... everything is well cooked and server warm and everything but it is just missing something... and that brings me to the service... why do waiters at above the average priced restaurants feel complied to ignore customers? Is snobbism a dish on the menu? Took them forever to come and take the order and then they act like you bothered them... bottom line: tourist trap.

Wow, what a drop in food quality!!! I have been going to this place for at least 15 years, at least 4-5 times per year. I always enjoyed their salads. They were fresh, tasty, generous and their choice of accompanying protein was always top quality. But today the vegetables were stale, the dressing was MIA, the chicken was the only redeeming feature on the plate, but the quantity went waaaaay down! And of course the prices are always going up. This place went from a good restaurant to a tourist trap. Even though the service was great, the food is just not worth it... not going back... they won't miss me though... it was almost full as usual.

Great for takeout. Waited less than 5 minutes for great service takeout. Will definitely go back. The pho was great as well. Not out of this world but very very good. Honest pricing, 3 pho, for $25 including tip.

Spectacularly unremarkable! How can one make sweet potato fries almost tasteless? And where did they get the idea that all burgers need to have tomatoes and salad in them? The texan burger that already had "bbq" sauce (super sweet and from a can I suspect) didn't need tomatoes, that made it even sweeter. Jalapeno cheese? Not sure where the jalapeno went... Crispy onions? Should have read 5 strings of crispy onions. I had the exact same (by ingredients) meal in Detroit at Chaps and it was 100 better. I mean it was goooood! Don't get me wrong it was not bad, I ate everything, but only because I was hungry. Still, with the 1000 restos downtown, not sure why go back to this one.

I pass by this place 3 times per week but the cheesy sign always stopped me from going in. Well, I ate there before, something like 8 years ago and didn't like it at all, but I saw they did a reno and decided to give them a second shot. Decent size portion, actually I couldn't finish the fries which were ok, tasty but a bit too oily for my taste. The 1/4 oz hamburger was tiny!!! The meat was good though, better than average. There were pickles in a jar on the table, not sure what the other reviewers were complaining about. And to the guys that calls this the best hamburger in town: you need to get out more buddy! So decent meal for a decent price, daily special was $12, tip included. But for the same money I can get a much better, bigger burger at Hurleys with sweet potato fries. So...this place looks more like a tourist trap to me, won't go back, it is not bad, I just don't see the reason to go into this place given the 100s of restaurants on St. Catherine and close by.

Excellent service, beautiful decor in a beautiful part of town. The presentation was also great, you can definitely see that great attention to detail is paid in this place. The ingredients are fresh, well seasoned and the dishes are very, very tasty. The service was also very quick, much appreciated for a business lunch. I noticed a large bar with lots of saké and whisky, will definitely give them a try when I go back for supper.

I saw a picture of their signature soup on one of my friends fb page and it looked very appetizing so I gave it a try. I had this type of soup before at another restaurant and the combination of coconut milk and spiciness seduced me. That soup was good but the Laks Lemak at the Satay Brothers so sooo much better! They asked me if I wanted it spicy and I said yes. Will not do that again. :-) The broth is so creamy and deliciously oily with flavors of smoked coconut through out. Even though I wasn't hungry when I left I would have liked the bowl to be a bit more full. Also the noodles were surprisingly short which made eating them a bit difficult (but I'm not good with chopsticks to start with). I will definitely go back to try some of their other specialties. The communal tables outdoors but under a big tent are also great on a hot summer day.

The doughnuts are ok. Of course, better than anything one can find at Tim Hortons or Dunkin or anything like that. That is to be expected of anything that is made in small batches. Still, they look much better on their website than up close. They are also very heavy, lots of grease in the doughnut and the topping. I'm afraid to know how many calories are in one of those things. But again, one that is on a diet doesn't go for doughnuts :-) Not cheap either, $13 for 6. Compared with less than $1/doughnut at Tims. Not worth it. Ok, maybe once to try them :-) Also, for a small doughnut shop like this one, one would think that the staff attitude is an important ingredient for success. Not impressed.

Whenever I go to a Vietnamese restaurant I take the tonkinese soup. However I decided to go for one of their noodle dishes. It was delicios, especially the vegetables that were cooked perfectly, and kept their crunchiness. The chicken was also delicious. Maybe a bit too much sauce that made the crunchy noodles get soggy a bit too fast. Still delicious. My wife had the spicy soup. I'd go back just for that. The best Vietnamese food in Montreal in my opinion.

6 5 star reviews from people that only posted 1 review should have made me a bit suspicious. Anyways I decided to go because I love burgers. I wish I could give 3.5 stars reviews to both the food and the service. There is nothing wrong with any of the two but neither is great. The burgers are fine, lots of toppings and big variety to choose from. In fact one of the issues with the burger I had was that there were so many toppings that I couldn't taste any of them. The pulled pork is also fine. The waitress was very friendly and had a nice attitude but didn't know what a black velvet was. Anyways her service was fine, she did her best. We had to wait for a while for the food but not too much. The price however was a bit high. I guess we paid for the location. It seems to me like another Crescent tourist trap. Will we go back? Not very likely, and again, not because there was something terribly wrong about the place, but there are other places much better downtown.

We went to Pied-du-Cochon with great expectations. We heard a lot about this place on the TV and from our friends. We were not disappointed one bit. For entrees we had some taragon tongue that is melt in your mouth, and some beef tartar which is present as hand-rolls. Delicious. For the main two of us shared the pig's head which you need to order in advance, preferably at the same time you make your reservations. Super good, the skin was crispy but not everywhere, the cheek meet is amazing and the brain is also great. The other two had the pig feet and a pork chop that were also very good. The portions are huge and there is a lot of fat but for a cold winter night this is perfect comfort food. None of us 4 could finish their dishes they were huge. They also have an impressing wine list and a good whisky selection. The waiter knew his stuff inside out, and he presented us with a list of specials that were not on the menu. It is not cheap but it well worth it. Also it is not for the vegetarian or the faint of heart. This is serious food! :-) Nice place as well, but there is no sign on the street. My friends looked for the place for 20 minutes. Look for the street number and nothing else or you might miss it. If you want to impress a girl this place will do the trick. Will definitely go back.

I went there after a big sports practice to refill my empty stomach and because I really like poutine but I don't have it often because it is hard to find good poutine. The first impression was not good as I was asked to pay before being server. The second impression was even worse as the waitress complained about the tip even though she didn't even serve me yet. I ended up giving 20% tip just to make sure she won't spit into my food. I ordered the regular putine so that I can really taste the fries, the sauce and the cheese. They were ok but not out of the ordinary. I also had some cider. $17 after tax and tip, waaaaay too much for the food and the service provided.

I was very happy to see another non-sushi Japanese restaurant opening down-town. I went there for lunch with my wife and for supper with a friend. Lunch food was ok for the price, nothing out of the ordinary, but tasty and good value. We didn't wait too much, in and out in 45 minutes. The restaurant was much more vibrant in the evening, I had the okonomiaki and even is not close to the one I had in Hiroshima or Osaka, it was not too bad. My friend had the ramen and he knows ramen, he worked as a chef in many asian restaurants and whenever we go out he mostly has ramen. He said it was the very very good. So I would give the food a 3.5 but because the lunch specials food was not as good as the evening food, but I will go back to check other dishes. The waitress was also very cheerful in the evening...we also had some huge 1L beer glasses, 11$ each good value.

I went there on a Tuesday morning around 0900. I don't know maybe their best staff doesn't work on Tuesday morning but my waitress was super cold, no smile, almost with an attitude. Almost. She was not rude. I heard her talk with an elderly couple close by and she was a lot more abrupt with them! I had the egg benedict with salmon. It was ok, nothing to write home about,. I had to wait a long time for the bill even though there were only 10 clients for 2 waitresses. I assume the weekend lineups are because kids under 10 eat free and because of the breakfast place vacuum in the area. Will not go back.
