I was here with four friends a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night, and passed a very enjoyable evening. I'm a bit confused about the comments on the small portions, so perhaps the sizes have increased since then or we ordered different plates. In my group, two of us ordered the veal, two of us had steak and one person chose salmon. All the plates were served with vegetables and swiss potatoes ( rather similar to hashbrowns - chopped up and fried). We were all happy with our dishes and although none of us have particularly small appetites we were stuffed by the end of the meal. I actually mentioned at the table that reviews of this restaurant had suggested the portions were small. This wasn't the case the night we went! The food was very good, the service was attentive, and there was always someone around to fill up the water glasses. It's true that you can only order the fondue for 2 ppl. so it might be something to consider before you go if your heart is set on fondue.
This is a great little BYOB! The food was some of the best I've ever had and the service was friendly and professional. I had the duck salad entree to start - it was incredible, followed by the rack of lamb for my main course. The lamb was delicious as was the sauce, but the cuts were quite a bit more fatty than I'm used to on a rack. The restaurant and the tables are quite small, but I never felt like I was sticking my elbows in someone else's plate. I would recommend this place as somewhere to come with a good bottle of wine and friends who enjoy good French food.
The crepes here are delicious, and are a good size. The back terrasse is beautiful and there was a live band playing while we were there. Service is a little slow, but I've always been there while it's busy. It's definitely the best restaurant on Place Jacques Cartier in terms of price and quality of food. If they take reservations I would recommend them as 2 of the 3 times I've been there has been a line up.
