Me and my partner always try new breakfast places so we thought why not L'universel. We have tried twice before but the lineup was discouraging so we decided to try this time for the last time. Luckily, we got in and was seated quickly. I have been to smaller restaurants with terrible services and I'm always amazed by how smoothly the place runs. The waiters and waitresses are very professional. I ordered a regular breakfast with smoked salmon. My partner ordered lunch/brunch and a salad. The food was brought fairly quickly with our coffee. The food isn't exceptional but it is decent and amongst the hustle and bustle of the large, trendy crowd, we ate out food. It's not a place that's particularity AWESOME but it's a good place for a brunch between friends when you want to meet everyone's various needs. I recommend the smoked salmon...mmm! I will return when the tourism season dies down.

Service: It's good. It looks almost family owned and the waitresses are kind and answers your questions. Had a cup of water and bread in no time while waiting to order. Food: Oh I ordered so many things and I loved everything. The tzaziki is amazing, the souvlaki grills were excellent and the thin potatoes..oh my! However, the winner was the fried calamari. if I lived nearby, I'd go there every other day. Just thinking about it makes me drool. mmmnomnomnomnom. Overall: Great food, large square restaurant, lots of color blue and white, quaint and cute. it seems to be great for family and friends, not exceptionally romantic or anything. However it's some good greek food thats for sure!!

I come here at least twice a week. I love this place. Service: Good for what it is, a busy place in Chinatown. Don't expect mile-end ish fancy service. You'll get your food fairly quickly. Usually the Bun comes out first, then Com then Pho. Each waiter/waitresses have their own "charm" and you'll know what I mean. Food: The Pho Dac Biet is amazing here. Right amount of coriander and green onions. The Com plates and Bun plates are also good. If youre not a fan of fish sauce you might want to avoid. Basic vegetables. This place isn't rich in diversity of vegetables but people come here for that addictive taste of the meats I guess. I enjoy their rouleaux pringtemps and their Ca Phe iced or hot. It makes me very hyper very quickly and it's delicious. Overall: Cheap, quick, delicious and addictive. I love and will love this place- especially the marble lions that everyone keeps tripping over.

Service: I think it's appropriate for what it is- a busy chinese restaurant thats open late, serves good food but that has to deal with alot of crazy hungry clubbers. Their English and French is fine (if you want to discuss philosophy with the waiters, go somewhere else geez) and they understand your order and bring it out fairly quickly. Don't expect fine-dining experience. My boyfriend said the service is "bad" because they didn't come ask if we wanted more stuff, refill our waters and gave the bill wuthout asking if we are done. I am used to this kind of service in very asian restaurants so I was not offended or shocked. I guess for those who expect what my boyfriend mentioned, do not come here expecting that. I come here because I want greasy, salty and peppery chinese food after 3 am , where everything is closed. Food: I will never be able to try all the food because my friends and I are all addicted to the PORK CHOPS. all I can say is, try the pork chops. do yourself a favor. Pork Chops, duck and fish soup with garlic bok choys are our favorite choices. We also had lobsters once and although i didn't try it, my friends claimed it was good. The pork chops and salty and peppery and greasy and juicy. The white rice and the soup accompanies the pork chops well. People: It's a loud crowd especially after 3am and you'll see people you know if you frequent the downtown nightlife. If you're more of a St-Laurent mile-ender, you'll know no one. All in all, great place to come after 3 am, starved and hung over. Greasy food for the tired soul!

I live nearby so I have had the chance to come eat here a few times. 3 times for breakfast/brunch and twice for supper/drinks. Uh, let me just say this, I have a pretty bad allergy...alot of ingredients in beer! So when I do drink its expecting stomach aches and headaches and all kinds of illness. Anyhow, the breakfast is hearty and lardy and meaty, like a true pub-style food. However it's a hit or miss. I have liked 2 out of three things I ordered. Again it's a personal preference so it should be ok if youre a big fan of crumpets and fried breads. I dislike their english muffins and their jams, but the big breakfast with feves au lard is pretty good. As for dinner food, i had a burger (portobello and beef) both times with a blonde beer. The burgers are good, nothing to rave and go crazy about. I'm guessing that here it's more about the ambiance, which is cheerful and nice and for the great drinking/pub feel. Which I cannot enjoy without being sick (because of allergy). The waitresses and waiters and busboys are trendy and cute in their uniforms, and are pretty kind for a hip and busy place that BL is. I hope to come back once I find a solution to my allergies.

Went for breakfast/brunch for a friend's birthday. I was quite late but when I got there and ordered (regular breakfast-y stuff), the food arrived fairly quickly. The waiter was quite friendly and quick to refill coffee and water. We all ordered different things, it's difficult to review breakfast food because it's pretty much similar everywhere. However, it was a nice, good portion contrary to the HUGE portions that I'm used to getting, so i didn't feel guilty not finishing it. The restaurant itself was a little chilly but quite large and quiet. A good place to dine and talk. I have heard that they offer re-imagined quebec-style food for dinner, and I'm willing to give it a try!

I recently came back from a trip in east asia, and had loads of izakaya food back there. I had some great food and became a japanese foodie. I was looking for a donburi place and i happen to see Kazu while passing by a few times Yesterday my friend and I waited in line 1hr (famished) and was seated at the bar. The staff is entirely Japanese, they are kind and work as quickly as they can. Considering the size, its hard to be effective and quick but they are very kind. Sitting at the bar was amazing, just watching the food being made madenus hungreeyy. We had gyoza and donburi abd salmon tuna bowl. All absolutely amazing. The portion-prize ratio is adequate. However picky eaters or people who are amateur asian foodies might not be able to enjoy it. Im a big fan of strong flavours and everything really hit the spot. Ill come back at least once a week to try everything!!!!! いただきました My Second review! I went back on a monday evening 7pm-ish the wait was less than 30 minutes so it was much better than last time. I brought a different friend, and ordered different food. As usual, the waiter and waitresses were polite and charming. After some quick thinking, i orderer chirashi-zushi and my friend ordered Japanese bibimbap. We sat by the open kitchen (bar) and the sight + smell was enough to get me pumped up for the meal. We got the meals fairly quickly and wow!...Again it depends on your taste but my god this food is amazing...the tuna and salmon was tender and delicious, and the sushi rice was amazingly well seasoned. a good mix of sweet and sour. My friend's chicken bibimbap was absolutely divine. The chicken was tender and juicy ( I dont even like chicken usually), the lettuce and veggies fresh and the seasoning..again..amazing... will go back next week to discover the TUNA BELLY!

Very good, very authentic. It's not the cheap HUGE sushi's that people wolf down during busy lunchtime. It's really delicate, appropriately sized sushi's, sashimi's and rolls that are just right. It's very quiet and the chef and staff are very friendly. Will return again!
