Fantastic restaurant, all around. Fresh simple ingredients prepared with care and attention to detail are the keys to the success here (perhaps the best example is the roasted vine tomatoes with goat cheese, which must not be missed! giant scallops wrapped in bacon should also be on your list). Nice ambiance whether you are there with just your special someone or a large group (I have experienced both); it feels a bit like a "place to be" without feeling too much like a "place to be". Friendly and unpretentious service and a reasonably priced wine list are icing on the cake. This place really is a gem. Do yourself a favour and make sure you call early for reservations if you plan to go on a weekend though, it seems the word is out about this place. Outstanding!

Solid pizza - lots of cheese, and good dough. Sometimes comes a bit undercooked, but overall a good bet.

I remember Sho-Dan as being a place to go for fresh delicious sushi, but most of all, incredible creative specials. I don't know what has happened lately but my last visit was very disappointing. The specials were still good, don't get me wrong, but nowhere near being worth the price ($18 for a couple of slivers of grilled fish? $20 for a roll that is 75% lettuce?). As for the "regular" sushi, some of the rice was dry and some of the fish smelled/tasted a bit too fishy (which is unacceptable when you're paying this much for sushi). Still decent sushi, but there is far better and less expensive sushi to be had in this city. No more Sho-Dan for me.

Best sushi in town. Because of the tiny "dining room" and lack of a liquor license it's probably best to do takeout and bring it home with wine/beer/saké. It's not "traditional sushi", but it's delicious and surprisingly inexpensive. I find it difficult to eat sushi elsewhere in the city.

In my opinion, a perfect restaurant - perfect food, perfect portion size, perfect service, perfect ambience, perfect wine list... you get the picture. What you get is an ever changing menu with an emphasis on the fresh and seasonal. This is cuisine de terroir of the highest degree. The wine list is extensive and impressive. Unless you are a real guru you will want to consult the staff, and the good news is that you can expect knowledgeable and unpretentious advice. A bit expensive, yes, but well worth it (there are several equally priced and more expensive restaurants that do not even come close to this place). Lunch on the terrasse overlooking the gardens of Château de Ramezay is a great way to try out this restaurant for a slightly discounted price. Do yourself a favour and visit this restaurant.
