Friendly reception, extremely slow (snail's pace) wait-service; unappetizing, insipid, watery cocktails that take forever to arrive from a bar with 2 bartenders in a small restaurant that's less than half full and the food was not good e.g. the sauce on the tuna crudo was overwhelming yet unremarkable and the bone marrow was under-seasoned and under-done.

This is a small, fairly casual, modern, lively restaurant with a young clientele. The restaurant is very clean, the servers are friendly and the service is good. The food is excellent and the grilled cow's tongue and the grilled octopus are memorable and I'll definitely go back there to eat those two dishes again. I was there for my birthday and all of the lights in the restaurant were turned off when the servers brought my dessert, with lighted candles, to our table and sang happy birthday to me - it was a surprising, nice touch.

This is a very small (I counted 32 seats), casual restaurant with a young customer base and the servers are young and friendly. We had hot Dragon Pearl tea, the boiled dumplings, Taiwanese sausage, Wakame salad, Seafood Wonton soup and the Seafood Dan-Zai, all of which were tasty but the Meal Soups could, IMO, have been more substantial with more vegetables and seafood and less noodles but the food was tasty and the bubble tea that we had for dessert was also good. The prices are okay and I did eat here two days in a row, so yes, I would eat here again.

This place has the worst service; the servers are rude and immature. I was seated at the very back of the establishment, the place was half-full and the waiter was, from the beginning, aloof, with an attitude of self-importance. We ordered drinks, French Onion Soup and Steaks. After ordering our drinks and food I saw our waiter walk to the very front of the restaurant. Ten minutes later I saw the bartender place our frozen drinks order on the bar and after 10 more minutes I could still see our sweating cocktails on the bar while at the same time I could see our waiter chatting with some young women patrons at the front of the establishment so I asked another waiter if I could get our drinks or if he could give them to me; he very abruptly said "no" and that I would have to wait for my waiter. I tried to get our waiter's attention but he simply moved to another table of young patrons, in the front of the restaurant, and started animatedly chatting like he was some sort of host. All this time, our drinks are getting warm on the bar, the other waiters are walking back and forth past our bare table, nobody asking us a question about how come we're sitting there for so long with nothing on our table and 25 minutes after our drinks were set on the bar there was no food, no drinks and no service at our table so we left and will never return.

The restaurant was very crowded when we were there and we sat outside on the little rustic backyard terrace/potted garden. I have to say that I'm not comfortable standing right next to someone else's table to read the menu and I also can't read the menu, at length, before I make my choices. The service was good and the food here was good but I wouldn't rave about it. I don't remember the entrees that we had so they must not have been great but we both had the Lobster spaghetti which was very good: very good pasta and good sauce. We had some sort of Pear tart for dessert which was very good but the servings were very small. The Bloody Caesars served with a large shrimp and fresh olives along with the standard celery stalk etc. are my favourite memory of our visit: they were so good that I'll go back to Joe Beef for a couple of those. Expensive restaurant, but not 5 star, IMO.

As soon as I pushed open the door to this restaurant the first thing that hit me was how noisy the restaurant is; I mean loud, VERY LOUD, loud like a big Chinese buffet restaurant, so I chose to sit outside on the sidewalk terrace and it was quite pleasant. We ordered the Watercress and Lime Soup which was very bland and didn't seem to have enough watercress in it to even make it a vibrant green; the Escargots Gratinee were dry despite the oil (how did they manage that?); and the Mussels with Roquefort Sauce which were served with what looked like homemade fries. The one star that I gave for the food here was for the Roquefort sauce which was very tasty but I had two mussels that were so full of big grit that I was afraid that I could damage my teeth if I tried another one and the fries, also, while tasty were extremely greasy and limp. The service was extremely slow and unprofessional: The mussel entrées were delivered before both the soup and the escargots which were both delivered at the same time. The reasonable prices at this restaurant may be the appeal for some patrons but I wouldn't return here.

This restaurant had been on my wish list but disappointingly the meal was awful. We had the over-cooked Calamari, which is served without any sauce while they suggest you buy the tzatziki as a dip; we also had a bland, meagre Grilled Octopus followed by the most tasteless, peculiarly butchered, skinny lamb chops which were shaped like short, very thick-cut bacon slices. We also had the Baked Lamb, which didn’t look “baked” at all but was colourless and limp as though it had been boiled and it actually tasted “boiled”: So overcooked, soft, limp and bland that the meat was unidentifiable as lamb - no aroma, no flavour at all; like it had been boiled in plain water without any seasonings - just awful. The main courses were served with basic white rice, boiled potatoes and a salad that I don' remember. The service was acceptable. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

This is a small restaurant with tables placed very closely together. During our visit the service was friendly but very slow and casual. We started with run-of-the-mill Oyster Shooters ($7 ea.), acceptable King Crab Legs for 2($32), a very good (but extremely slow to be served) Raw Platter for 2(ca. $36) which consisted of an assortment of Oysters and Clams on the half shell accompanied by a variety of delicious sauces. We then both had a house specialty: Surf & Turf Plates ($28 ea.)which consist of a very basic lobster roll with a fair amount of quite bland lobster, unremarkable baby back ribs and fairly good fries. My entrees did not please me but I'll return to this restaurant for the Raw Bar and to try a bowl of the steamed clams that I saw being served while we were there :).

This restaurant was on my Wish List for a while but when I did finally get to visit it, I was disappointed. Chez Bong is a very small and basic basement restaurant with fairly courteous servers who could be more attentive. While the Korean pancake appetizer was delicious, the rest of the meal was disappointing as the Spicy Noodle soup was not spicy as advertised and not very tasty; the Marinated, Grilled Beef Ribs and Marinated, Grilled Chicken were tasty but the portions were very small and because the portions are small, and everything has to be ordered individually, the cost adds up and amounts to much more than I would want to pay for the food and surroundings offered by Chez Bong. My visit was not unpleasant but the restaurant does not warrant a second visit IMO.

Pricey, but great ambience, excellent food and very good service. The escargot-apple-filled pastry shell was absolutely delicious, as were the lobster-stuffed ravioli; the seafood linguine with snowcrab legs was extremely tasty and the cheesecake burrito with blueberry sauce was memorable. Our waiter Maxim was professional, courteous and friendly. We'll definitely be going back to Messina.

The food here is excellent and the service is very good. My son and I were here to lunch and we were seated on the main floor at a very pleasant table by a window. We both had table d'hote: I had the Wapiti steak and Dijon sausage which was delicious, and my son had pan fried veal liver with wild boar bacon which was equally delicious. The bill was extremely reasonable and I'll definitely be returning to this restaurant to try many of the other dishes on their menu.

This is a true cafe which only offers half-service but the food is delicious. The service at the counter was very courteous as were the servers who brought the food to the table. My son and I both had the honey-glazed salmon with sticky rice and we shared an avocado and citrus salad. The main salmon plate was meagre but very tasty and the salad was FANTASTIC. I plan to return to this cafe to try their other salads. Two (2) main dishes, a shared salad and two smoothies cost ca. $52.00.

I recently ordered their special "Crab-stuffed Sole" and not only were all of the vegetables on the plate limp, overcooked and bland but the fish was "runny" and tasted spoiled so I had none of it after the first bite. As I declined to have something else I was not required to pay for my meal. My son ordered his Prime Rib medium and it was brought rare. The food here is not good.

This is a restaurant for people who are more interested in food than the surroundings. The restaurant is very small but it offers a full menu and an extensive list of specials written on the wall. The waiters are not friendly and can be rude but the good food normally tends to make up for that even though the food is not cheap. Try the Salt and Pepper Seafood (it's not on the menu), the Fried Soft Shell Crabs (it's on the wall) and the Stuffed Black Mushrooms (with meat and chinese sausage). There always seems to be a line at the door for dinner, weekdays or weekends, so I guess reservations are recommended.

The service at this restaurant is the worst. The waiters are aloof, slow and inattentive. The restaurant completely lacks ambiance and I felt like I was sitting on the side of a corridor or a hallway while I was actually in a slightly elevated section of the main room, and to make matters worse the food was extremely bland. The overall experience was not worth the expense and I can't understand how this establishment got its reputation as an above average Chinese restaurant because the foos and service are way beneath the standards of even an average Chinese restaurant. I was very unhappy with my experience at this restaurant and I won't be going back.

Nouveau Maison Kam is a small West Island restaurant with the authentic taste of Chinatown. Their food is all delicious and the prices are reasonable: Try their Young Chow Fried Rice ($8.95), Salt and Pepper Squid ($9.95)and Thai-style Seafood Soup ($10.95). This restaurant has the fastest delivery of all the restaurants in my neighbourhood; pizzerias included.
