PHENOMENAL!! This is by far, the best greek food in NDG! Portions are very generous and menu quite extensive - from seafood to deli. They seem to have it all. Service is impeccable and if you give your email address when you leave, you get a 5$ coupon on your next visit! The meals are very favorable - and you can tell everything is freshly and had made. I had the chicken brochette and must say the peppers, onions and sizes of meat were eye popping huge! My husband had the gyro and said it was exceptional. And not to forget, the atmosphere is quite lovely. Roman frescos painted on the walls, a rich yet decidedly elegant feel to the place. There is enough space in the back of the restaurant to have group parties, and oh yea, the prices are very reasonable!!

Incredible!! As authentic Mexican as you can get. The place is tiny - looks like a very large living room (with a kitchen off to the side...) and the layout is basic (holds up to 20-30 people?) but atmosphere is warm and colorful. The food is to die for! My husband ordered chicken mole and it was so delicious, that we wanted to come back, but the owner said that she might make it again if she can get some of the special mole ingredients from Mexico! Servings are generous and service simply outstanding. A real home cooked meal that is a little taste of the south west here in NDG!

Perhaps I am a real food snob, but in my opinion, as far as Greek restaurants go, this one is just okay. Villa's setup reminds me of a fancy hospital cafeteria: order at the cash, pick up your food when ready. Service is less than pleasant and by not taking interact, that was already strike 2. I ordered the pita plate and husband took the pork (2 sticks). Greek salad, uneventful. Green peppers and olives soggy. Onions limp and feta dry. Fries were nothing to write home about. Average. But the meat was kind of dry and tough. Good portion sizes mind you, but as far as the spices go, pretty generic. Many other (good Greek restos) marinade their brochettes for hours and have a nice glaze when BBQ'ed, but this looked as if some basil/rosemary were sparingly sprinkled on for good measure. The tzaziki was quite good but a yogurt based (firm and not liquidy, not like Marathon who use sour cream for theirs = heavenly!) The toasted garlic bread was a nice touch too. Not the beat, but not the worst for what NDG has to offer.

Even thought I'm a native Montrealer, I was still a newbie when it came to experiencing Gibby's cuisine. Reservations are a must, and even then expect a 10-20 minute wait, depending on the day of the week. The ambience: rustic, with old world charm; (silver plates?) wait staff in uniforms reminiscent of Mother Tucker's (and so very polite, paitent and helpful) and food hearty. But so was the price... Expect to pay $50 to start for a steak, $17 for a Spanish Coffee, but I must say, the portions sizes did not dissapoint. Menu is basic meat and potatoes fare. Lots of steak and seafood, but the few chicken dishes were interesting. I'm thinking a 1/2 French and 1/2 surf and turf fusion. I had the fillet mignon with Monte Carlo potatoes (stuffed with all the fixins mashed baked potatoes) and surprisingly crisp asparagus tips, the meat was tender, but lacked a deep seasoned taste (the kind the Keg uses), so I took some of the butter from my husband's chicken Kiev, drizzles that on top and it tasted delicious. The chicken Kiev will be on my radar for my next visit as it comes in two pieces, each the size of a small to medium boneless chicken breast. Perfectly cooked on the outside, and delightfully seasoned on the inside, it was perfect for a hearty meal. The unusually large salad entree (caesar salad - fantastic) and all u can eat fresh bread were also very fresh and tasty. Desert was a perfect way to end the dining experience - my creme brûlée was delicately cooked and warm throughout, and even through the special coffee was close to 20&, it had enough alcohol for two drinks! A once a year/special occasion dining experience I enjoyed quite a bit. Highly recommended.

Seriously people?! This place is as bland as they come! Sure, service was great but you can't make up for lousy food!! Chicken souvlaki - tasted like cardboard. No spices or marinade. The salad, sparse at best, but wilted and stale. My husban had the gyro, and said it tasted like the sole of a leather shoe. Big disappointment ! Perhaps if you like your Greek food boring, this place is for you,..

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. The place was crowed and all the sauces pretty much tasted the same - butter chicken/chicken korma. The naan was burnt and prices are a little high for what they serve. There are tons of places on Jean Talon to try.

What can i say that has not been said already?!!? This place is FANTASTIC!! The food, the ambiance, the service. I was really impressed & happy to have a) made reservations before we went - that is A MUST! and b) decided to try the lasagna - my barometer: if the main meat/tomato sauce is good, chances are the rest of the tomato based dishes will be as well. The entré was bruschetta - which is actually the size of a small pizza, and comes in squares, with diced tomatoes and spices. Don't fill up on the regular bread (although it is fresh and hot and delicious!) because the entres really are a taster's choice selection. My husband tried the Linguini Florentin, and i turned my nose up at first, because I could not see how pears could be a good addition to any pasta meal, & and was completely floored. Delicate yet a flavorful medley of tart and salty. My mom had the vegetarian pizza which was loaded with fresh large slices of mushrooms, zucchini on a pesto base. Mouthwatering and not too overwhelming of a garden salad vegetable taste either. And of course, the lasagna was superb. Huge slice yet not runny or sloppy. At first I was wondering about the "cream" inside (i usually put ricotta) but the combination of perfectly cooked layers of noodles, cheese, and sauce. And the electronic parmesan shredder is fun to watch. Their speciality is seafood, which i am allergic to, but i can say that it seemed to be high in demand as many people were ordering all around me.. Try the beignettes and cheese cake with a cafe au lait! To die for (if you won't get a heart attack from the fabulous fat first!) One downside, this place can get loud, and if you face the window, the view is of a parking lot, but other than that, go for the experience of trying new things from their wonderful menu (and the do takeout!!)

I have not eaten @ the one on Westminster, but I have eaten @ the one on St. Laurent and all I can say is OMG!! What fantastic burgers!! Fresh and juicy - cooked the way you like it! And unlike some other "trendy burger places", you can get quite a few toppings at no extra charge. It's kind of a high class McDonalds, in the sense that you have to go up to the counter to make your order, and choose from the menu that is listed on a wall, but the waitress does bring you your order when you manage to find a seat (they put a number on your table so they know what order goes where). The ambience is really pleasant (I think it used to be an Italian Restaurant before BDV) which makes the whole eating experience that much more pleasant. The establishment is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful, but oh! The burgers! Just like the ones you would make on your bbq in the summer time in your back yard! (without the alcohol though - they are not licensed for this) but refills on your soft drinks are free!! Also try the spicy fries - delicious, with Harissa mayo makes it complete. And to my surprise, they were not greasy, (were they placed on a paper towel before they were served, because that is the only way I think you can get "non -greasy fries") but like everything else, home made goodness. And the portions are quite large. Going back next time to try the poutine (which I overheard the owner saying, it's his own home made recipe!) Many thumbs up!!! And oh yea - i forgot to mention - 22$ for two people - tip included!! You would pay that for one of those creepy "double down burgers" at KFC (filter in the fries and drink...)

What can i say that has not been said already!? Marathon ROCKS! Their food is always excellent - hot and tasty, portion size is more than average and selection is quite extensive. Chicken brochette is my favorite - the pieces are huge as well as the servings of peppers/onions too. The tzatziki is heavenly (their secret? they use sour cream instead of yogurt) and service is always fast and friendly. Have been to this location twice and will most definitely come back!

Disappointment! Got stuck going here because the line up at Marven's was too long, and in retrospect, would have gladly waited in line outside for Marvens than Arahova. Spanakopita was lukewarm at best, the tszaziki was too salty and the meat, questionable. Had the chicken brochette and was not sure that cooked chicken was supposed to have the consistency of slippery undercooked pork, but this one did. The only saving grace, sadly, was the garden salad that came with the plate. My husband's gyro platter was pretty fat laden and not very tasty. Won't go back - we did this time in the hopes that Arahova would have gone back to its former higher quality of food, but sadly, has not. Service was fast, friendly and efficient, but that was about it...

well, after reading all the reviews, i was really excited about eating here, but i guess it was a hit and miss. I had "le gastronome" and my husband had "le poulet bbq". Both portions were quite large, ingredients fresh, (except for the buns which were quite soft), and well, the fries were to die for - fresh and homemade; but my burger was quite dry and had some extra spices that made it taste as if it had a hint of goat cheese in it. My husband's chicken bbq burger was good, but a bit dry as well. We were thinking about having some of the pasta, but that might be for another time, if we decide to go back (which we might...) The place is quite quaint, romantic little getaway and prices are in line with what a nice bistro/restaurant would charge.

I've been coming to Jonas for 15 years and this place is still fantastic. The specials (about 15 different types of plates) come with soup, main meal, coffee and desert - most being under 10$. A step up from a regular deli, I often prefer to eat there than to take out or have it delivered. Comfort food indeed, but oh how good it is!

I have been going to marven's for about 20 years and each time is like the first time. "Special two sticks" means two juicy pork skewers surrounded by a mound of lettuce, onions, olives, tomatoes and a block of feta cheese sprinkled with thyme and oregano. The price is great for the generous portions. Start with a plate of tzaiki (you can put some on your fries and salad when your mail meal comes), and ask for the "sauce" to dose your meat/fries/salad. I think it might be the meat marinade, but ooh, even cold, it's to die for! Gets packed quickly, so get there early (before 7pm on weekdays, 6pm on weekends). It can get loud and crowded, but the food is so incredible that the taste explosion in your mouth will certainly drown out the chatter.

I can't rave about this place enough!!! Amazing - simply amazing! Along with a beautiful decor and wonderful dining ambiance, the food is filled with sensual flavors from the mild to extremely spicy. Wonderful variety of dishes (the soup - tum yum kha - oh heavenly!), an appetizer menu that makes you want to sample every one, and the main dishes give you enough of a selection of combinations, even if you go twice a week, you'll never have the same thing twice! Service - a 1 food quality - out of this world ambiance - lovely overall dining experience - priceless.
