Always order the smoke meat when I go to Pete's and it's always very good. Yesterday, when I went, they had some juicy looking ribs on display at the counter. I ordered a half rack and was very surprised at what was brought to me. The ribs were not like the ones displayed. They were awful. The ribs were mushy and bland. Kinda like they were boil for a long period of time and the only flavour was the BBQ sauce slathered all over. Shame on me for ordering ribs at a Smoke Meat joint. The good thing out of this was, I was refunded my money after I complained.
The floors very very greasy which made it very dangerous to navigate in the restaurant. We arrived at around 7:30 PM and there was only two other tables occupied. We still had to wait a long time for menu's. To the point where we had to ask the girl at the cash for them. Our food sat at the pick up counter getting cold because our waitress was tending to a new table of six that entered. Once again, I had to ask the cashier to bring us our order. Food was only average and lukewarm. I had the pork souvlaki, my friend had the gyro. Service was horrible. Will not be going back.
The restaurant was fairly quiet for the dinner hour. There was only one other table of diners however, there seemed to be a very brisk takeout business. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo($11.99) with a side of Naan($1.50), my friends had the Chicken Tikka Masala($12.99) and the Lamb Madrasi($14.99) and we shared an order of steamed rice($2.99). Over all the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the delicious blends of spices in all the dished. My favourite was the Chicken Tikka Masala. It had a charcoal taste that was so wonderful. Looking forward to going back to try other dishes. I heard that the Samosas are worth trying.
While the decor of the restaurant was top notch, the burgers were less than stellar. I ordered the "Elvis burger" $13.95 (carmelized onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese) with a side of onion rings + $2.00. The burger was overcooked, dry and flavorless. My friends were also not impressed with their burgers. Many other buger places on the island with a better product. I won't be back.
Not a very fancy restaurant but the food was first rate. You could taste all the subtle differences in spices used in all the dishes. I had the curry chicken and was very pleased. Looking forward to returning so the I can try something else.
Having heard many positives about Gibby's I finally had a chance to visit. Very rustic and charming inside. The female attire should be updated though. I'm sure they would be much happier. I ordered the Gibby's cut ribeye with a side of lobster tail. My friend ordered the same but with the scampi side. She shared with her daughter. Dinner started with free pickles and a great loaf of bread followed by a very a tasty salad. Other option were a also available (see web menu). After our salad, a small portion of sorbet was served to cleanse the pallet. A nice touch. The steaks were served and they were done exactly as order. My friend loved her steak while I and her daughter found the steak just average. It tasted a little bland. It was not a melt in you mouth rich steak that I'm accustomed to from a well marbled rib eye. While I'm glad to have the Gibby's experience (great service), Gibby's will not be the my first choice when I get a craving for a good ribeye.
Fantastic early bird breakfast. The girls on the floor always have a smile and a coffee refill close at hand.
This is my "go to" Dim Sum place. Sure the parking is a pain and the line up is at times long on the weekends. But that's part of the charm. Sure beats driving around in circles looking for and paying for parking in Chinatown. The Dim Sum has a fairly good selection and the quality is above average. There's a huge Chinese market at the other end of the mall that I like to visit after Dim Sum.
I live in the area and have always heard good things about this restaurant so I finally had a chance to check it out. I can't believe I took so long to discover this little gem. Food was fresh and well prepared. Service was very good. We had a new waiter but a more experience waiter kept an eye on things and it all worked well. A little pricey. But I don't mind paying for good food. I'll be back!
Fruit Flies. The restaurant was full of them. Landing on my food, falling into my drink. Disgusting. Worst order of Fish & Chips ever....
Kejaki is always first rate with their sushi. For those with a hankering for Chinese, there's also a good Chinese menu. A great affordable lunch menu is offered. This is my local "go to" Sushi place.
